    Monster hp/exp rate

First off, let me get this out of the way. I am not trying to say that leveling should take longer or be more of a grind than it already is. Also, what I am asking for would most likely be more enjoyable after 1.20 when combos are implemented.

Final Fantasy games have had, arguably, some of the slowest combat systems of its genre. They are by no means button smashing games and content takes careful thinking and planning to complete. This tends to be true in both the single player titles and FFXI alike.

The way the exp system in FFXIV is currently setup, you get a party of 8, do pulls that link 5+ monsters and kill them in 45 seconds to get a ridiculous amount of experience. The system leaves no time to really cooperate with teammates or use even simple strategies to kill the monsters.

This brings me to my request:

The idea behind what I am proposing is to make the combat system less hectic and instead more concentrated on a single target with emphasis on team play.

    1) Make monsters have more hp so they don't die in 15 seconds.

    2) Reduce the amount of experience required per level to combat the increased duration of encounters. (This should be calculated to make it take approximately the same time to get from 1-50 as the current system)

    3) Reduce the amount of links that are tagged on to a pull.

    4) Make experience gained while solo or in a group of less than 4 have slightly increased exp gained per kill over a light/full party. (This should make solo or small group play still be a viable option as they would gain more exp per kill, but at a much slower rate.)

    5) Increase the time allotted between chains. (Seems like a given considering battles would take longer.)

Again, these changes would be exponentially more enjoyable in 1.20 when combos are put in place.

Just posting to talk about solo exp rate as i dont party much want say i feel rate for solo play is at the right level as when you get to higher levels it takes a fairly long time to level but it feel alot more better to play solo than when i started final fantasy 11 in 2003 , this just the example i want put out.
If any exp changes happens, i hope it only to party's as solo play feel right atm.

Also by time 2.0 comes out i can see myself at level 50 so i think i about maybe halfway unless the exp to level jumps up dramatic soon for me and enjoy the way it is atm.
As long as i can do the content in game, i guess it does not matter what level i am.

I believe the same about solo exp rate. That is one of the things I would want to keep, but at the same it seems impossible to implement the changes I have in mind without affecting solo play. That is why solo/small group exp per kill would have to be increased over light/full party to complement the increased challenge in encounters.

I agree. There should be more elite-level monsters, especially in Strongholds. In the future, for Strongholds, I'd like to see less mobs (stuffing 50 mobs in a confined space while they stare at the wall isn't exactly what I call a challenge) but the ones they keep are at an "elite" level, where they require actual strategy and about a minute's worth of time each one.

Insulting people in the counter argument isn't going to change their minds. It will make them stick harder to their opinion regardless of whether or not it's right, and think less of your opinion simply because you insulted them. In essence, if you want to try and change someone's mind, come up with a well thought-out response and don't be a dick.

Yea we could use Party monsters. Not just really high level monsters either. They would be similar to the Key monsters in strongholds but yield much more EXP for a party effort. Have an area & a way to distinguish them.

If they could make 1 target yield about the same rate (or more) as killing a group(with chains) in the same time then it could be balanced.

So for a reasonable EXP effort...

    a whole crowd of 8-10+ every 20sec - 1min+~(or so) for 5k - 10k xp a pull (usually).

    VS

1 party monster, same respawn time for 10k - 15k+ xp (time needed to kill it, probably 1-2minutes)
They would have to be hard enough so players couldn't just AoE crowds of elite too.

Ogre's & some of the other monsters could make for good party mobs.

SE is likely not going to ever give us that much EXP from 1 monster because they're afraid of big numbers & will probably think we'll be leveling too fast.
SE also isn't good at balancing and in the end 1 type of leveling would probably win out.
At the very least we'll probably just keep seeing stronghold-esque "elites".

Doesn't really matter how they tweak it the 'hardcore' players will always find the best xp/per hour system and everyone else will slowly but surely jump on the bandwagon. I think the xp curve needs to be address its currently very backwards, levelling 1 - 30 takes a long time with a PL but levelling 31-50 takes no time at all even solo.
