Okay, so the people who are saying "new players deserve a shot at this" have very clearly never been thrown into mentor roulette of this type. Just as an example, a few months ago I was put into a Shiva Extreme only myself a dps, and a tank were the only people with crowns and after explaining mechanics over and over and over again we never did make it past adds even because the healers simple were not healing and tanks were just dying to damage which should of course never ever happen.

The real issue here isnt "entitled mentors" it's new players not understand the hard mode to extreme difficulty jump and going in like "why should I have to look it up before hand...?" even duty finder listing a warning message before queuing these encounters would be enough to make sprouts consider "hey maybe I should look into this"

You can explain mechanics all day if you want to, but it wont help if people are just simply not taking part in basic things like healing expecting these fights to be just another carry.

If people were supposed to look up guides prior to queueing, the game would've shown you a guide before entering the instance. It's not mandatory. That said...

This is the problem. These trials can be cleared, especially if you have two mentors to help ease the load. I had a Shiva ex clear with me as healer and another mentor as tank. It was eventually just us two and we cleared. But even we can only carry so much, the rest of them need to survive and contribute at least this much.

Basically my point, if I had queued healer we probably would of been able to clear but the healers were letting both tanks die before adds ended (which is basically the start of the encounter) so if they werent healing the bare minimum when I was all but begging them too but I was just a "rude mentor" I don't want people to know everything but at least know the bare minimum of their role.

It's also why I exclusively heal mentor roulettes now, dps has so little carry potential in this type of content.

I once finished synced Levi ex solo after everyone else fell into the ocean. People got their clear, but my first thought was: why did the group not just do it unsynced? It makes no difference to the person being carried and yet doing it synced makes it a lot harder on the people actually doing the work. Carrying strangers only enforces the widespread idea that it's acceptable to enter content one is not ready for.
