Not really liking the idea 'cause it's not creative, I'd even say it's cheating. FFXIV has a fantastic selection of housing items you can get very creative with, making furniture combos and exploiting glitches to come up with the desired look and feel of a room. There's plenty of good examples on housingsnap.com. I'm particularly fond of good designs for lalas. Whenever someone pulls that off, it's quite cute and impressive. Challenge your perception and give it a go. Designing stunning homes/rooms in FFXIV is really a matter of illusion. There's plenty of possibilities. You'd be surprised what you can come up with.

Go furnish a room for a lalafell character and see how fantastic the furnishings feel when almost every single table in the game is above your shoulders. So many counter tops are above your eyes. Even stepping on the lalafellin stool isn't enough to reach the counter top on many furnishings.

So you think lalafells using furniture scaled for a race several times their size is creative?

Also you know what's cheating? Your advice on using glitches and exploits for furnishing. A lot of them in the past were actually fixed by SE. I'd rather not rely on bugs to get furnishings to look vaguely practical as bugs eventually get fixed.

I never have but if I try, I'd most likely use hingan sideboards or stages as elevated platforms and sink tables in them, and use lalafellin steps as stairs to the newly elevated "floor". Part of the lalafell cuteness is 'cause they're smaller than everything else. So to shrink everything down to their size takes away from their being cute. It just does.

They could and have, true. And yet they still left a couple of housing glitches/workarounds in, hopefully for good. Like I don't understand why you can only put windows on walls and not partitions, you have to use an exploit for that.

Also the room where everything's shrunk to size would be very unlike the FFXIV environment outside of it. Momodi's not behind a shorter counter. She's standing on something. The only time anything was ever shrunk for a lala was [SPOILER] in SB. Lalas live in the same world as everyone else. They don't have a "shire". So, yeah, it'd be nice to make stuff for little people anywhere, but I just don't see it in this game.

Those are options but why should lalafell players have to use extra furnishing slots just to get something to look normal for them? It isn't exactly fair when the taller races can make a room look practical with less time, money and furnishing slots. Also the stage is taller than most if not all tables.

And the furnishing intended for that, the lalafellin stool, is not tall enough to sensibly reach everything. Furthermore you cannot place any npcs on it. You can't place any npcs on any platform furnishing be it a chair, stage, etc. If you have lalafell npcs you either have a tiny choice of furnishings to use as counters/tables or have them looking like children hiding behind one.

I feel like if we were to implement this, it would actually spike up more creativity because you can start adjusting sizes on items specifically based for you and your race.
Maybe you want a nightlight? Make a wall mounted lantern smaller!
There is a lot of possibilities if this were implemented.

There is of course a limit to resizing things if some kind of feature existed.

I don't approve of unintended glitches to make my apartment/house look better. I support the idea of using actual features to make something amazing. ^^
