Why is the North American community so much worse than the Japanese one?

Has anyone here actually witnessed the toxicity, such as racial slurs, that the OP is going on about with any degree of frequency?
Personally, I haven't seen a racial slur used in this game at all over the years i've been playing (well, aside from lalas. Those popotos arent people.)
Is this the toxic racist cesspool the OP makes it out to be?

You'll see it in DF sometimes.
Dota 2 forums also has thread nearly every second day on Steam with racial hate mongering from Americans towards anybody speaking Spanish on US servers.(Though there are a lot of Russian bashing threads from Europeans there too)
And Left4Dead2 is so probably the most toxic game in existance at night time GMT when the Americans log on and play.You'd have to play it to understand how awfully racists and ragey they get on that game.And incase you wonder.Yes it Is American adults.you can tell when you hear them screaming down the mic.It got so bad i ahd to stop playign it in evening now and will only play it during the day when they are not on.

I thought I'd share my own experience for once. Being aboard in Asia working with 3 Americans dudes and being French myself, this has been the best time of my life. I love how culturally different they are. I don't think there's any comparison to make, just be yourself I guess, would be quite boring if we would all be the same.

There's been a fundamental shift in thinking here in the US. There's always been a sense of entitlement and superiority against the status quo but the past decade things have gotten so much worse. There's a lack of empathy, a lack of manners and a lack of general kindness. Foul language is the norm, nasty cutting remarks are common place and laughing at other's misfortune is considered funny. Most in the US expect to be catered to

It's a lack of family values and proper parenting that breeds this kind of mentality. As parents it's our job to ensure they understand morals, consideration and a deep understanding the world does not revolve around them. Saying "No." is a good thing and something so many parents no longer do. We parents are to blame for this. So busy having our own lives that we fail to guide their lives in a meaningful productive manner. We expect teachers and others to raise our kids. We give them anything they want because it takes no effort. That's a parenting issue.

Taking part in our kids lives is important, monitoring their behavior online is important and it takes effort. We have to be the 'bad guys' in order to effect change. Until we, as parents, make the effort nothing will change, it'll only get worse. Just my 2 cents worth.

As an older American it's embarrassing to see our younger folk behaving this way. I see it often in real life as well as the forums. I was in the store this week and a young man actually told an older lady ahead of him in line to "move your old a**." I spoke up and told him he should be ashamed of himself. This happens a lot, not just on the forums.

To make matters worse our leaders act no differently. To quote the old saying "Attitude reflects leadership" is saying a mouthful. Not just our political leaders but any who have a position of authority in their lives. Parents being the top tier. We are the first step in teaching our kids to be good people.

To be fair, the option is called 'Greed' for a reason. Though I mostly do it if I need the gear for an alt job, I know others will greed for seals or desynth. What's wrong with that?

Seals and stuff in a dungeon or whatever? Totally fine.. DF? Yeah FFA..

A Byakko farming run or Sigma Savage formed through PF for the purpose of gearing up main/alt jobs? Yeah nah.. Not really that cool.
Nothing wrong with lotting on something in high-end content if you can equip it. But beyond that, it's purely greedy and shows really poor etiquette, to lot on high-end gear that you can't equip.
However that's "the norm" so I am not going to fight against the grain here. But I don't see it as being a decent human.

Just further shows the cultural differences, and was the reason I brought it up in my post to begin with.
