Well to be fair it depends. The Shroud moogles are a lot more trustworthy to the point they rightly lampshaded their slacking off in the recent Valentoine's event on them interacting with their less motivated Moghome cousins. Now, the Moghome moogles.... yeah, no. My gil stays with the Lalafell.

I'd love to see more beastly races, the half human half other animal is starting to get old to be honest. I really love the wolf race added to stormblood I hope to see them as a race someday. Bunny people wouldn't suit the game IMO. Please don't add it.

Yes. Make it Lupine since its kinda done. Even the Empire makes them less tribal with the Ferae Domitae.

Yes, I was thinking of the Moghome tribe when I said that! Then again, if you start in Gridania your introduction to the game involves the Shroud moogles turning up in the caravan and stealing the merchant guy’s drink.Well to be fair it depends. A beastman race would break the lore of the game. Level 1 Baanga floating in the light of the crystal soon to be the hero of man? I don't think so. I like that beastmen are tribal and attuned to their spirituality and seperate from the races of man. It would be a disservice to their concept in my opinion.
I wouldn't mind a more beastial race for sake of players who want one but I personally have no interest. Ivalice Moogles would make sense as an option but would they be a different race that in game Moogles but the same species. Like lions vs house cats?
Use Lupine then, they're not considered a beast tribe by the devs or by Doma. So they'd be perfect as our resident playable beast race, since it's not exactly lore breaking to play as them (again, they're not considered a beast tribe). If you're worried about it breaking the ARR standard, that was kinda already broken by Au Ra (Yugiri wouldn't need to really hide her face if you started the game as an Au Ra, but yet she will).A beastman race would break the lore of the game. There's three big reasons SE is reluctant to do this, some of which have been covered thoroughly in this thread:
- LORE: A huge part of this game is the conflict between the Human races and the Beast races. The player storyline has them pretty thoroughly entrenched as a Human member of this conflict. If a bestial race was added, they'd either need to retool the storyline, or explain why this new race is somehow considered to be a Human race, in spite of the fact that they look no more human than the Amal'ja.
- EQUIPMENT: Any new race needs to be able to wear all of the equipment in the game. Human-looking races require only minor tweaks to the thousands of items in the game - but depending on how bestial the new race is (for example, digitigrade feet, muzzles) all these pieces of gear would need extensive redesigns.
- POPULARITY: We've already seen what SE's perception of player reaction did to those poor Au Ra girls. It's unlikely they'll take such an extreme step as an outright Beast race.
From a personal standpoint, I'm fine with the current status quo. FFXIV's roster of all-human races is part of its identity as a game. I'd also like to avoid the tired old trope that pops up in a lot of RPGs that features standard fantasy races (Human, Elf, Dwarf, etc) and one bizarre, off-the-wall race (Squiddoid, or whatever). If a game is going to mix humans and inhumans, it should be built that way from the ground up, not try to shoehorn them in later.
