I'm one of those dorks that want separate glamour for each of my DoH jobs (yah I had like 6-8 fully melded sets of crafter gear before the ala mhigan stuff). Since I mostly craft in normal towns, glamour plates work perfectly and I can finally use all that DoH-specific gear for looking swag while I craft.

Just a shame I can't do the same for my DoL (since switching out of town is a no) but then there's not enough plates to accommodate them anyway. Maybe in a future patch.

I prefer the glamour dresser over the old system by miles. Yes, you can't swap glamour during a dungeon run or raid when you pick up new loot, but you spend a lot less on prisms in the long run when leveling up and it helps clear up inventory of purely cosmetic items like the crafted primal weapons, old gear that doesn't work in the armoire, and gear that has no purpose to it anymore like level 60 armor from before the final patch armor.

The only gear I don't put in the dresser is gear that still serves some purpose with leveling other jobs. Like if you haven't leveled monk yet it probably isn't a good idea to throw all that monk gear into the dresser. The same can be said of end game gear and obviously any gear that might be used in relic quests.

I've only read a few posts this thread, but I hear people saying you can still dye gear after it is put in the dresser. I use to be under the impression that you can't. So can each individual piece be dyed or is it applied to entire plate only?

When you open the dresser, don't click "edit plates". Instead, right click any individual piece in the dresser and there is an option to dye it. This will override any previous dye and will be the default dye when you next add the item to a plate. If the item is already in use in a plate, the color of that item in the plate will not be affected.

Oh, okay. Thanks. ^_^ I might consider using it to clear up space. I'll just avoid putting CS items and items with effects like EXP boost in it.

I spent a lot of my playtime using this feature, with both my main and my alt. To be perfectly honest, I had a field day. Despite the limitations that the dresser has, it makes glamour far easier to use. It even works with you as you lvl up. Just selecting the plate glams over your new gear with your current look. I already made 10 plates with my main [because 10 isn't close to being enough], so there's a lot to make with it. As far as being unable to remove gear, here's how I see it: you're still going to access it. It's just confined into one place, so it's basically a second armoire.

    [Incoming rant]
This brings up another point though: why did people talk about this feature like it's as bad a choice as 1.0? It's flawed, but Square didn't "drop the ball" by adding this (quite the opposite) and it's not a "trash bin." You can still wear whatever's in there and even add dye, while it's kept away. Part of the reason why I put it off for as long as I did was because of how poorly it was received here. I got tired of using the old system, after it burnt-out a lot my prisms and then experimented with this. I'm hoping they get the issues fixed in a later update, but I found fun I didn't think I'd find with it. Some people need to lighten up

Because change is scary and people were asking for something different and didn't get it so they reacted strongly. I dunno. Humans are weird.
SE hasn't always made the best decisions so I can see people looking at it and going "oh no not again" but a lot of those same people never even tried it, just panned it from the announcement.
Glad your experience went well and welcome to the wonderful world of Glamour Dressers.

    2. Put a copy of each piece, dyed before conversion, for each color into the dresser (you can put the same item into the dresser multiple times, I'm not sure if this works for "unique" items).
I’m having an issue using this and I don’t know what I am doing wrong.
I want the same look on 3 different jobs but in 3 different colours. The 3 jobs are WHM, SMN & RDM. There are 4 pieces used to create this look. The body and feet are used across all 3 jobs, the hands and legs have a healer version and a caster version.

    Gryphonskin Breastguard – all three
    Thavnarian Sandals – all three

Star Velvet Long Gloves of Healing – WHM
Star Velvet Long Gloves of Casting – SMN & RDM

Replica Dreadwyrm Tonban of Healing – WHM
Replica Dreadwyrm Tonban of Casting – SMN & RDM

I've created 3 plates using the appropriate pieces, first plate (WHM) is died Pure White, 2nd plate (SMN) is died Midnight Blue and 3rd plate (RDM) Dalamud Red.

The first plate used on my WHM is working as intended, but here's my issue. If I apply the 2nd to my SMN it also changes my RDM to blue and if I apply the 3rd plate to my RDM it also changes my SMN to red.

Anyone any ideas why this is happening?

Glamour plates apply the glamour to gear pieces. If your RDM and SMN share gear then they share glamour. The plates work the same as the old glamour system, except they take no prisms and are limited to cities.

I believe you can also dye a piece of gear while editing your plates, which will only apply that dye to that item from the specific plates used.

Which means you could dye a piece of gear within the dresser with an expensive dye, which would allow that dyed piece to be used in any future plate, but also while using it in any plate, dye over it with any other dye without losing the original expensive look that is saved to the dresser.
