To be honest: as a lady I dont feel very praised or celebrated by them putting up three pieces of eye candy on a stage and including something thats most likely gonna be some sort of dating-sim again.

The first iterations of this event had little to do with "praising women" aswell - one was actually about praising the goldsmith-guild for crafting the Edvya-Doll and the other one was about the relationship between a father and his daughter and him trying to do something nice for her, if I recall correctly.
Since we're having the idols its not about women being superior either... its about a girly pop-band. So I dont really see where you get the idea from that this event is about "praising women" except maybe from that one, six year old quote.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hinamatsuri
Hinamatsuri (雛祭り Hina-matsuri), also called Doll's Day or Girls' Day, is a special day in Japan.[1] Celebrated each year on March 3,[2] platforms covered with a red carpet-material are used to display a set of ornamental dolls (雛人形 hina-ningyō) representing the Emperor, Empress, attendants, and musicians in traditional court dress of the Heian period.[3]

Like most old holidays, the real meaning fades out with time and it gets altered by the interpretation of the current generation celebrating it.

I don't see why bothering even if you aimed for the hand whether it was on purpose or not.

I'm aware of the background of the event (and quite said they replaced the dolls with pop-idols... I liked the Edvya-stories a lot better, but personal taste I guess) - I just wanted to point out how I'm not seeing the "praising women"-angle in having a girly band on stage...

If gender inequality is what the "current trend" is and what's making them money than that doesn't make them look good imho.

Pop-stars/"Idols" are extremely popular in Japan/Korea, I suppose its a way to keep the holiday interesting. If they had nothing but dolls I suppose folks might find it a boring/uneventful holiday.

No, just. No. Don't. Sex sells, and women dominate the market as they buy more. Of course a business is going to be aiming in self-interest and success. But I don't see Square Enix ONLY going for that, they've added fan bosses in this game and a whole slew of other things for the people. I may be new to the game, but not to MMOs. They are doing a good job.

There are TONS of other holidays in this game (which I haven't seen yet being so new). If you go look at all of them and its the same result then perhaps that would have more weight.

That sounds way better than the little ladies event. I could always use more Gil ;D

I don’t wash my hands because I need that bacteria to protect me from other bacteria

    It's called business.

If you would take a look at japan alone on their idol/otaku/anime culture, you clearly see that there's a huge bias going on there and it clearly reflects on the merchandise they offer online, too.

So there's no surprise that SE tries to incorporate some of this.

They mark most major celebrations that celebrated in Western culture and because this Japanese cultural day falls in in what I would imagine is a nice schedule to allow a calendar of events year round. I'm all for more events but making an obligatory "mans" day just to counter balance an actual centuries old day of cultural tradition that SE have decided to mark to have a Japanese holiday represented seems a little off to me.
+1 this, all people seem to do in this game is complain LOL stop bringing sexism where it isn't at please. It's a game.
