SE: Please consider the following Greed loot condition

Like many others, I've been doing the Byakko Ex primal. Doing so I noticed a flaw in the Greed system that I believe should be addressed.

A Monk weapon drops and we don't have a Monk in the group. Naturally everyone Greeds on it. However, the person who won said Monk item did not even have the monk job even unlocked.

I propose a 3 tiered loot system. Need, Greed-Usable, Pure Greed, and Pass. Greed-Usable would get preference over Pure Greed. This rewards those who have put in the time and effort of leveling various classes over those who have not.

In my humble opinion, someone who can't use an item should not be able to roll over someone who can use the item.

Anyone can decide later on to make a monk or whatever class later on the character. If you're really after monk gear, play as your monk with randoms. Or lootmaster runs with your static.

Nah. Just because you have the job leveled doesn't mean you are actually going to use the item either. It might just rot anyway. The game has no way of making that determination, just like it can't tell if someone is going to level said weapon job next. Greed FFA is the fairest, everyone in the party was in the run, everyone can roll if they want it. Later on the items can be turned into seals, desynth, etc which are universal anyway.

Imo, if you don't like how loot is being handled...make your own group. You can even use Master Loot to ensure people get their desired drops.

Stab in the dark here, but have you tried asking the group if they will pass on certain equipment before commencing the duty? I mean it may not work all of the time but you have nothing to lose by asking, and some players really do accomodate that.

A fair amount of the time people will happily oblige, at least in my experience. This is certainly worth trying.

I mean to be honest, it's called GREED to begin with, meaning you can roll on it whether you need it or not. Usually if you ask at the beginning of an instance for something specific you are after, most people will generally go "sure" and pass on it. Otherwise I would suggest going on whatever job you actually need the drops on, or form your own party with friends. There is no reason for another loot system, and who is anyone else to judge why someone rolls GREED on an item? The reason they are rolling is in the name of the type of roll to begin with. GREED.

They could jump MNK tonight and get to 70 in the next few days with little trouble though. I don't see how you have priority honestly. Is it annoying? Sure, but it's not the fault of SE or the system that you weren't playing your MNK at the time.
