My Opinion of the Little Ladies Day Event

And you seem to be another person forgetting that character gender does not equal real life gender; the metoo movement isn't really relevant to this discussion, since we're talking about female avatars, who are often played by male players (and are ultimtely designed with male players in mind even when a female player is the one playing that character.)

Except that the OP has stated before that men are being marginalized...there's no evidence of that happening in-game (especially given that the representative for our characters in FFXIV is the male Hyur Highlander in the 3 CGs that we have thus far), so yeah, that would naturally leave one to assume that they are bringing in real-world talk into this thread, and thus, yes, it is very relevant to what they are saying. I am more than aware that character gender does not equal real life gender. Don't even get me started on the idea that if 'Little Ladies Day is for females, then men should have something as well'.

My mind actually didn't go to the gutter, thank you very much. Before you make an assumption about where my mind indeed goes, maybe you should actually ask me what I think a 'Little Boys' Day' would mean in-game. I personally don't think there needs to be a male celebration day, because why? What for? What is typically considered a 'masculine-centric event'? Something related to muscles, tuxedoes, speedos, combat...things of that nature, yes?

Yes, I saw what you quoted there, but how exactly would any of that translate into in-game events? Perhaps, just to keep things from being taken out of context, our avatars encourage NPC boys and celebrating in the manner that some of your descriptions have (the children that came with Yugiri in the 2.x series would be perfect for something like this), but it definitely shouldn't be called 'Little Boys Day'.

PS, I ain't buying that game cuz one, I hate VII and two, them splitting it up is pure bs.

Am wondering... why do we need a male equivalent? I'm all for equality and shit but not everything has to be 1 for 1, especially not in a video game.

What exactly would the male equivalent look like? Would it literally be the same thing but just gender swapped? What would be the point of that? It'd be boring and repetitive.

And as for males get shafted regarding clothes and hair? A lot of things I've played have this same issue.

Wait I haven't playing VII for quite a time but I'm pretty sure this is not a side quest and you needed to do it in order to progress the story.

I am legitimately confused about why this is a thread. I've read the whole thing, I consider myself a pretty reasonable person, but I just don't get it.

Men and women are different. That's just a fact of life. Not everything has to be a perfect 1 and 1 - my boyfriend opens more doors for me than I do for him, I cook more meals for him. Do we have to even these things out or be guilty of sexism? Is it sexist that he gets me more presents for Valentines Day? Or that he's the one buying the engagement ring? No, it isnt.
