It does make a difference. You are making it harder on your tank when you as a dps or healer pull this crap...harder on everyone really. That BLM needs to learn what teamwork is. If you are anything BUT a tank and are pulling, then you damn well better be willing to actually TANK those baddies you pull because the actual tank is well within their rights to let your ass die.

Im going to preface this by saying that i dont intentionally pull for the tank when im on BLM. I have accidently pulled a handful of times(unpredictable start-stop tanks), but i dont do it on purpose. However, i also have pulled aggro more times then i could count in low level dungeons. Something about having an AoE spell and low level tanks not always being great about multi-threat enmity. Ive also been in plenty of groups where the tank had connection problems(or didnt like a particular dungeon), and if the healer and other DPS are fine with it, ill start pulling the dungeon. Ive BLM tanked every dungeon up to level 60, and half of the level 60 ones too. Im fine tanking my share. I know how to position enemies, i dodge the attacks that i can, and i try not to overwhelm a healer whos not used to working with someone quite as squishy.

So ill agree that in the low level dungeons it shouldnt make much of a difference. However, once you develop bad habits they can be very hard to break. So the real issue is that this player who has never done a dungeon past Hauke Manor(and thus doesnt know how rough things will get later on) has a bad habit he seriously needs to stop. Just like Shalan said.

Exactly. It is one thing to rip aggro in a lower dungeon..its hard for experienced tanks to keep aggro in them, never-mind new ones. Some level of ripping the baddies is to be expected. It is when someone is deliberately running ahead and pulling the mobs that it becomes an issue, and that is when the tank can either choose to try to regain control of the mobs or let you tank them and die then reestablish control. They do not have to save your butt, and the healer doesn't have to either. Its a bad habit to fall into as you said, and those lower dungeons are meant to teach you the things you need to know for when life gets hard. Everyone wants to hold healers and tanks to task, but the DPS also need that same hold. If they are being arses, call them on it and let them eat the floor. Some will genuinely be unaware and stop, and that's totally fine. We all flub. It is when they keep doing it that the issues arise.
