Can we please get more cool looking outfits for male characters?

Well for female characters the biggest difference between them is how tall one can be, from the tallest Roe to the shortest Lala. The difference in heights is bigger for male characters AS WELL as male Roes being much wider as well in comparison. So there is probably a bit more work into male versions in comparison, though I know nothing about coding and all that so I'm not really sure how much of an issue this could be.

The last interview about the bunny outfit, they told us the Hyur and Roegadyn variants were ready, so did they really just take a year (or more, I can't remember when it was) to make one more race's variant? Lol.

While I don't see the appeal, some people are looking forward to this outfit...but they seem to be taking an almost insane amount of time to finish it.

It's ridiculous though, because they also told us it takes 6 months to make a new set of gear for all races, that's with both genders included. This is just one gender, so it should take half the time if not just a little bit over half.

Either they've got a massive handicap (eg. one person working on it) or they're just not telling the truth.

At this point I'm pretty convinced they're just stringing us along in the (obviously, at this point) vain hope that we'll forget at last and the posts will stop. I'll continue to be convinced of this until I see some sort of actual evidence that they've got even as much of the male bunny set done as they claim to. If they have three races done already, why haven't they shown us at least one? Or some concept art? Anything? Let us know what we're waiting for, so we know whether to bother getting excited.

Maybe they're afraid it will be so hot the servers will literally catch fire? A steep price, but worth it.

Maybe. That could very well have been the initial plan.

The developers should be well aware as to how stubborn FFXIV's player-base can be, though.

A recent interview implied that Yoshi-P wants to do more to appeal to role-players, though, so I am hoping that such a move will translate into more gear sets that look great on male characters.

Users ask for more male oriented gear and better designs on males. Devs comment that they are working on a gaudy weirdo male bunny suit for months.
Ok SE we appreciate that a male bunny suit takes as much development as a full game but we need more masculine gear.
Not even more generic unisex or female to male converted designs.
After SB things got even worse.
