What you consider a "dress," they may classify as a ceremonial robe. I do agree they could do a better job offering more western male aesthetics, but this is a Japanese game, with a Japanese development team. They're obviously going to draw from their own culture if only because personal inspiration is often subjective. And as has been noted numerous times already, Little Lady's Day derived from an actual Holiday.
