I would love a gunblade... I just don't wanna get my hopes up as I can't see it as a tank and we already have way to many dps classes.. Wish mch didn't exist and we got a gunblade instead.

If we wanted to be realistic about it, a Machinist would be a crafter profession, but one which supplies numerous weaponskill-capable or -modifying items... Make use of it as a Samurai for Gunblade/Squall. Make use of it as a Rogue for Thief/Rikku. Make use of it as a Gunner for what we have now, a gunner with its own mechanized supporting-fire brigade (or rather, one tool of minor importance outside of white damage and one raid CD).It will be Machinist if anything. Makes no sense to have a tank use gun blades . This seems to be a pretty straight forward answer .....a Machinist uses different tools . They are not a Gunner or whatever . They should have given this to Machinist from the start of you ask me. I’d like to see such tools like chainsaw, debillitator, flash, drill, and auto crossbow added to their skills at some point (a la original Machinist Edgar from ff6. )

I agree, Machinist should have been given base gun skills but all their oGCD should have been using various tools and machines rather than gun attachments. MCH now sorta plays like a marksmen to a degree. Flamethrower is a good start, but would be nice to have a Bioblaster, Autocrossbow, Drill, Chainsaw, etc.

Should have just ripped off Edgar from FF6. Preferably, I rather see a dual wielding gunblade class or a "Fusion Gunblade class" based off of FFVII Advent Children Cloud's fusion sword.
By wielding one large gunblade made up of several varying different size and shaped gunblades while also wielding lesser and basic gunblade in your other hand you create various dual wielding actions and skills depending on what sort of rotation you use while fusing gunblades together and switching them around. Basically think of how Monk functions but with each skill having a varying purpose like how Machinst's different types of gunfire work.
I could easily see this job class fitting either tank or dps combined with my idea, and unlike most existing job clases this could be the first one that could really swtich between melee and range fight styles, unlike Red Mage whome only becomes and melee to expend charged mana. But like Red Mage, it would only be considered one specific type of class (melee or range).
I'll just name this little job class I thought up "Fusion Gunblade" for now until I can better think this job class through into more detail and possibly post again later.

Never heard of this leon person, which game are you playing ?
Final Fantasy 8 is what Squall Leonhart is from. He wields a revolver shaped gunblade(minus the gunbarrel) and fights with a fast paced melee style combined with explosive and ranged magic (at least that's how his FF Dissidia playstyle is like).
I wrote it page 2 -_-
It's from Kingdom Hearts where he is named Leon (he is still Squall, but he decided to change his own name, reason here --> https://www.khwiki.com/Squall_Leonhart )
