Gath Ponders on BRD

I like how this game is putting Bard into a position i recognize.

EQOA bards weren't just awesome buffers, they were awesome DDs as well. Infact they were pretty good soloer's as well since they had high Heal over time and mana over time buffs.

Seems like they are going to allow it to be aa DD and buffer that's awesome. Always thought bard was kinda of lame in XI casue all they did was buff.

This is how I was picturing it, but, I don't think BRD will exactly be a high DPS, just enough to take the edge off while they're in between buffs. It has an awesome concept, they just have to deliver it right.

This is where I break my character to say that people who actually look at how I type opposed to what the actual topic is about means that all they have time for is exactly what they're claiming me to be. If you wanted discussions that actually portrayed what the OP was about then you would look beyond that fact and make a comprehensive post that was something of value. This is the reason why my 1 gil is worth more than your 1 gil. Metaphor maybe? I actually put intellectualism into my posts and if you fail to take the wool from upon your eyes then you're worse than what the white knights actually portray me as. So, in conclusion, those who actually have something against me and look at how I type apart from what the actual topic is makes them a troll and a defect to the FFXIV community. Hypocrites, much?

Gath says that BRD won't be a top DD, but they will have some sort of DMG contribution so they are not just sitting there waiting to buff more.

Agreed, equipping the bard job stone will probably yield stat reduction in terms of attack. If one wishes to still maintain higher dps they probably should just stay as an archer and wait for the next archer job to come out. :/

Welcome, I was waiting for a few more to enter the conversation.

Well, that's what SE plans on doing, they want classes to still be used and this is their way for doing it. Make the only physical mg ranged DPS a class, and it's job a mediocre ranged dmg, but strong buff type of job that actually can appease to them. In the early 70's BRDs are actually sword wielding singers/instrumentalists that used some sort of ranged attack (if they chose) and this was made up on D&D standards, and a lot of MMO companies follow that standard for their class bases. I believe that we will get more songs. We have our MP and TP regen with a followup of a single buff that covers everybody's main stats. I Think the list is incomplete and will be completed before the implementation of patch 1.21.

I dislike and get bored with jobs where I feel like I have to sit back and do barely anything.. so I'm pretty happy about this. Looking forward to DDing on Bard.
Edit: Especially since I was hoping for RNG.. I love archery. Add bard songs to that and it just becomes more interesting. Now I really don't care if we get RNG or not. As long as I still have my bow(harp?). XD

I agree with you, buffing and trhen doing nothing is no fun at all, it just means you're running back and forth hitting the same spell every 2 minutes without any other contribution you can throw in there. It worked in XI, but that was because it's buffs were powerful. The recast time on it may have been short, but it was awesome. With BRD in XIV being abloe to do some sort of DPS in between buffs show that it will have longer buff timers, which is good because it fills an empty DD role and fills a buffer role on top of it. I am looking forward to it and will be making BRD my main.
