Alphinaud had the most solid and compelling character development in the whole game so far. Lyse irritates me, I hate the way they try to pass her off as (SOMEONE ELSE) yet she is nothing like her. Would have preferred if they just said she was her sister all along and introduced her as a new character tbh. Plus I feel like she's trying way too hard, yet at the same time comes off as completely lacking confidence and somehow that's just a really annoying combination. If she doesn't even like herself (which clearly she doesn't) then how on earth am I supposed to?

Alphinaud has earned my respect. He started as a cocky little know-it-all. He got knocked down HARD, held a lot of grief over it for much of HW and then finally became more humble. He lost confidence in himself and then slowly got it back. I love him. We went through a lot together. HW has been my favorite content so far as far as story goes. SB is introducing a lot of neat stuff but the story is lack luster in comparison (at least imo). HW's story made me feel very close to all the characters and Ishgard in general. I hope we travel back there some time.

In any case, Alphy isn't taking up THAT much screen time. But I'd sure love to see more Alisaie; she has become such a likable character and I always enjoy when she's around. More relatable than Alphinaud is and basically a polar opposite to him so that's always fun.

Considering that he’s a kid (I think he still counts as one) He’s probably not going to die.(At least on camera.) We’ll probably be told he’s dead or we’ll find him dead somewhere. Of course our character will be sad about it. I don’t know how I’d personally feel about him dying though. I think I’d rather have him sent off-screen for a while.

I like Alphy, he started off as an annoying character who eventually grew into one of the most developed of the cast. If I were to label him as a character from ANY FF game (including spin-offs), he comes across a bit like Ramza. Uses his skills at diplomacy as much as he can, but isn't afraid to beat down if he needs to (and he has to beat down a lot).

Agreed 100% with this. Alisasie is amazing and I adore her. I would love to have her running about with me all the time, and Lyse can really just stay where she is and it would be great if I never had to adventure with her ever again. I love the story in this game and I found myself skipping the cutscenes with her mostly in them.
