Why do you lock up your houses?

I've never locked my house, personal or FC. Even when they were just empty mansions with a summoning bell and some NPCs, they've been open because it doesn't bother me for people to see the work-in-progress. I've been surprised with random drive-by visitors but never anything, uh, untoward, happening. I can't imagine how awkward that must be to walk in on in your own virtual home.

I think it's relatively rare, I never had it happen to me and I'm in the RP server.
That said, if I stumbled upon it, I'd make sure to ruin it for them by posting embarrassingly descriptive posts about my character violently sobbing, drinking wine, and dancing on top of the couple and she bitterly talks about her husband/impending divorce. Maybe even lure them to come outside and "see something", and when they do, lock the doors LOL

Because if you need virtual pixels to RP then you should seek professional help. Take your wife, gf, bf, husband... whoever you want and RP in real life. Perfectly fine and nothing wrong with that. Actually it could "spice" things out of the ordinary what is great. But in the game? Just doesnt make sense. If you want to do publicly then take your RL partner and do it in front of bunch of people... if you really like in this way. The fact is most of virtual RP are RL spineless people who probably blush just hearing word "s*x" and take the anonymity of the internet to fulfill something they would never dare to do in RL.

Never locked my rooms/apts and now FC house. I wouldn't mind finding people RPing in them at all and I don't even RP. Just that wouldn't it be a mood breaker the actual occupants are walking around or doing stuff around their house while you, uh, do your thing? So i dunno why anyone would wanna RP/ERP at someone else's place without asking anyway. My house isn't quite done either but it's not a mess so don't really care if people checked it out or took pictures or whatever. Have fun.

I am not an open-world / walk-up sort of RPer; I RP with friends only, keep everything in private chat, whether it's mature or just a fun one-Shot sort of thing. But assumptions like these are very bad to make, and extremely prejudiced. I find RP as a good way to express creativity, actually. I used to write a lot of short stories (and sometimes fan fiction but generally original works), and have been in a huge rut with writing for a long time. But since I started RPing with a friend and developing an intricate backstory for my character, I've had sparks of inspiration to write again.

I wouldn't write off all RPers as people who "need professional help" or who are "spineless people" that "blush just hearing the word 'sex'". I don't think you'd want people making those assumptions about you, so please don't make them about other people.

While I may have questions about people that choose to ERP in my personal house (why though), I don't question that they ERP. Whatever floats their boat. Just...mayhaps not do it in a stranger's house lol.

Most RP'ers are not socially awkard at all. Many are drama queens/attention wh*res, yes, but RP in real life is MUCH different. You can't look different or write stories involving magical creatures, you can't immerse yourself into a fantasy world (not without getting some weird looks, anyway). RP is not just sex, by the way. I have no idea why you think RP is just sex. My stories revolve around intrigue, adventure, and magic. THIS IS WHAT RP IS ABOUT --- WRITING STORIES. Just because you read an article in Kotaku once about some catgirls doing ERP doesn't mean that all roleplayers engage in that kind of story. Most roleplayers prefer to do, you know, stories, and contrary to popular belief, most of those stories do not involve sex.

If your problem is just with ERP (NOT the same as RP, just a branch of it), then you probably also have problems with porn, or authors who write erotic stories. Obviously people prefer real sex, who doesn't? But sometimes they just want to write because writing itself is FUN. Like, I have never even HEARD of people getting off to RP. You need your hands for that, and you know what your hands are doing? Typing.

This mentality completely baffles me. RP =/= ERP, and even if it did, it's not about sexual gratification for most people. And even if it was, so what? Who cares? Spend your time hating something or someone who are actually worth it, not some dude who likes to imagine large-chested catgirls, lmao.

You sem to be confusing RP and ERP. ERP is just a small subset of roleplaying. The vast majority of RP is not ERP and does not involve sex in any way.

Wow. Are you serious? People who roleplay enjoy writing stories and crafting a fantasy world... usually they are people who enjoy reading books. I think you're assuming that roleplay is strictly sexual which it isn't. And anyway I think it's often a bit more strange to roleplay in real life than it is over the internet, since it's literally people running around pretending they have special powers and what not. Of course, there isn't anything wrong with LARP (Live-Action Roleplay) but to me it feels lackluster compared to the immersive feeling found in writing and I would probably feel like an idiot doing it myself (again, no hate. Just my personal feelings). If you mean sexually, then ... well. Sure, I guess. But honestly what's wrong with enjoying some creative writing, even in that regard? I can promise you that it isn't just desperate or awkward people; sometimes I would roleplay romantic situations with my best friend. We're both girls and both have boyfriends - and I won't speak for her, but my relationship is fantastic. But sometimes we just really adore two characters from a series or two original characters and want to roleplay them together because it's cute and we love writing stories. Has nothing to do with anything other than just that. Writing stories is super fun.


ANYWAY, back to the main point here....
My house is locked because I'm not done decorating it. I'd be happy to open it up after but I may lock it on occasions when I just want to chill and be left alone. If I happen to get people inside my house spamming abilities like they do on my lawn, however......... I may lock it permanently. That's seriously irritating.
