What prompted all this? Yet another DPS who refused to aoe even after politely being asked. His response was to call us out. I didn't lose aggro, sweetheart, I gave it to you and didn't bother getting it back~

Is it wrong that I find the worst part of this the "learn how to heal" and "shit mentor" parts? I mean, sure, it's one thing to get out DPSd by a healer and someone not even close to you in gear. But mentors acting like asshats just piss me off.

Well, the funny thing is, is I didn’t even say anything to the guy. Even though he refused to AOE. Too bad he left immediately after his comment, because otherwise I would have told him to “learn how to DPS”. I am getting really tired of DPS that don’t AOE packs of mobs. There’s literally no excuse not to. I shouldn’t have to make up their damage on WHM or AST. >.>

Don’t get me wrong, I love DPSing as a healer, but it’s really depressing to see you do more damage on SINGLE TARGETS than actual DPS jobs. I can forgive AOE because Holy spam is god-tier, but SINGLE TARGETS. I should not have nearly 500 more DPS than a DPS job that has roughly the same ilvl as me.

Fun fact.A lot of mentors i've encountered in DF are actually worse than new players.
Btw you havent said wheter or not the tank was struggling or died.Only that you were dpsing better than the ninja.Im not defending the ninja i just find it intertesting you left that part of the story out.
Because generally that would only be said to you if tank was struggling to stay alive or you wiped.

The tank was fine. They did 100k less damage overall than I did throughout the entire dungeon. We only wiped once to the second pull because of lack of AOE and a poorly timed Holmgang. NIN died during the wipe and during the last boss because Touch of Slaughter/standing in things before I could even get a heal off on him. Boss was almost dead, so I guess that’s why he didn’t bother to move...other than he stood in lots of AOEs throughout the entire run...

It’s fine if the NIN wants to talk crap about people, but he’s not exactly a shining star of perfection either. If you’re going to talk, at least have the skill or prowess to be able to do so. Otherwise, you just look even more dumb than you’ve already made yourself look. Especially when you’re also a mentor, but seem to not know what AOE skills are. /shrug

Tank shouldnt need to be holmganging in a level 70 dungeon to be fair.So yeah you werent healing properly by the sounds of it.
As a mentor you should know keeping tank alive comes before personal dps.

... what? That's nonsense. You Holmgang to allow your healer to DPS more. I was the tank and did it intentionally. First time it went off too early, second time went ahead as planned and caught Benediction, thus allowing Hyomin to ignore me entirely for six seconds.

He died because I let him. Healing had nothing to do with it. His lack of aoe annoyed me, so I let the boss one-shot him.

Holmgang > Benediction.

Though, if the damage were enough, Holmgang > Benediction wouldn’t need to be used in the first place because things would have already been dead. When a WAR has cycled through all their CDs and have to Holmgang because things still aren’t dead because DPS refuse to AOE them down, there is a much bigger problem than the fact that Holmgang was used in the first place.

And this is another thing: I know the tank, and I know how they play. Thus why the Holmgang > Benediction. I know how Bourne tanks on WAR, I know when they use Holmgang, and I know when to Benediction them. Hence why this isn’t a problem. I don’t do this with random tanks, but I have seen tanks use their immunities many times for healers to DPS. Especially if it’s a PLD with a WHM, or a DRK with a WHM.



It’s funny how people insist on holding tanks and healers responsible for their roles, but don’t want to hold DPS accountable for theirs. A tank and healer shouldn’t be out-damaging the actual damage dealers on single targets while also performing their roles as intended. Like I said earlier, I can excuse WHM outDPSing DPS when Holy spamming, but a WHM being top DPS on a boss? Or a WAR? There is no excuse.

Ah, and before I’m accused of not performing my role, I had more casts dedicated to healing spells/Divine Benesion than I did Holy.
