Penalties for missing an invite an overkill

I've never heard of a game that penalizes players for missing a party invite until today. Some queues I've been waiting in lasted hours before I got the chime that a party was formed, but it's a real smack in the teeth when you've waited hours and need to go use the bathroom or get a drink and come back to find not only did you miss the invite but you can't even queue for another 30 mins! It's a bit too much SE, the game is punishing enough without you enforcing some rule against not staring at your screen every single second you're queued for a duty.

It counts as a withdraw from the duty and you have to do it 3x to get a penality. It was implemented to prevent people from trying to cherry pick into duties and jamming up the queue. That was really fun when Crystal Tower came out.
It's annoying when it happens unintentionally, but it was the behavior of the player base that made SE implement the system. We only have ourselves to blame lol.

As its already been said...you have to do it 3 times to get penalized.
But if you miss the window...well you only have yourself to blame.
You queue up...you accept responsibility for being ready to respond when time comes due.
You want to talk about annoying? Waiting for the queue to pop..it pops..I hit "ready" - and it aborts because someone didn't hit the button.....5 times in a row...that's annoying.

    Sounds about right if we have to wait and people do it multiple times we don't want to keep waiting. Suggestions;

    Mini fridge near by.

Communicate, you have to pee really fast, or extreme keep empty bottles near by or buy a pan. Adult diapers are also recommended.

OR hear me out, get a tank friend to help you.

if you've been in the queue for hours it should have been fine. don't the strikes reset after an hour or so? so if you've been in one solid queue. it should have only been your first strike.

sure there's been days where I've missed tons of pops and never took a penalty because of how spread out they've been. 45 mins queuing for expert. strike 1 cos it dinged when the door bell went.
another 40 minutes back of the queue for expert strike 2 dinner was burning....
another 40ish minutes and strike 3 for some reason.
sod it queue as tank... straight in...

always thought it was only if you missed like 3 in an hour or something you got nailed. (never really been an issue for me)

Really poster??? Your reply is absurd. Real life happens and people should not be penalized for being stuck in ridiculously long queues.

I think you need to take a break from the game...even I can tell he was joking.

But seriously.... if you queue up for a duty....it IS YOUR BLOODY DAMN FAULT if you miss the window.
Blaming it on others or the system is just childish and evidence that you do not belong here what so ever.
Take some personal responsibility for yourself for crying out loud...its pathetic.

I was being sarcastic, Yeah RL happens but I doubt Fires, earthquakes, or acts of God happen to one person constantly. Hence time management. Set a time where you know you won't be bothered by RL rather than let others drop everything their doing for your sake. To blame the system shows how childish your mindset is. I work, go to school, study, and have a life as well. At the very least I can do on my part is be considerate to my fellow teammates and make sure I can play with out interruptions rather than make them wait just because I was inconsiderate and did not plan ahead. First off if your queue wait times are absurd play a different role like tank or healer...otherwise ask your FC for help, a friend who is a tank for help, or build a group. We all wait for queue your not special. Do something else in the meantime. If not deal with it I craft or play a different game in the meantime.

As stated above, it happens after you've done it 3 times. Missing 1 because of a bathroom break or a drink won't penalize you.
If you're missing 3 timer windows in a day, you're probably too busy/distracted to play.

Anyway, here's a real suggestion that I use for fishing sounds: get a wireless headset.
That way you can go get that drink and hear the chime (though honestly why does it take more than 40 seconds to get a drink?).
You can go to the bathroom, hear the chime, and hurry yourself out in 40 seconds.

I remember Crystal Tower queues. 5 times is actually really being kind. I remember one night I ended up abandoning queue after 15 times of the queue popping and then aborting because someone declined or let the timer run out. Letting the timer run out was 11 minutes of wasted time just to get into the dungeon outside of the wait time.
