Could we ever see a more beast-like race in a future expansion?

Viera sound cool but there's really only so many animal parts you can tack onto a human base before it all starts looking the same. I'd rather SE go the whole hog and give us a straight up animal-like race. There's a lot of animal races in other FF games they could introduce and even one or two within this game they could use.

Obviously we'll probably never see something like Bangaa due to the sheer amount of work that'll have to go into rigging and redesigning armour, so if we do get a beast race they'll have to have a human-like frame so existing armour models can be reused.

Off the top of my head... we could get Ronso using a Roe rig, Ivalice moogles with a Lalafell rig and Lupin use a Hyur rig do they not?

Of course there's most likely a very simple lore reason that shuts this whole thing down so feel free to let me know.

I wouldn't mind having Lupine. They seemed interesting enough and the rigging on them already looked simple. Helms would be an issue but eh, I am sure SE could make it work.

People have been asking for more beastlike races since ARR was first in beta, and the origional concept art for Au'ra was a lot more beastlike than previous races, the Japanese fan base didn't like it wanted them to be cute instead of scary... so not likely we'll get anything scary or intimidating any time soon.

I sadly doubt they would, seeing as the dev team would have to go back and redesign all the gear in the game to accommodate this. Unless you want Miqo'te/Au'ra clipping with helms or any other piece of gear. Also Square seems pretty okay with leaving the devs underfunded.... you know, the game that saved the company and makes them steady income.

They'd have to redesign every piece of armor in the game... so no, probably not. There's also the problem of fitting those races into the existing lore and explaining why we've never seen them before. If they were to introduce a more beast-like race, I'd think it would be if/when the New World/Mericydia is located as we've got a pretty good idea now of what races live where on the three main continents. The lore of the New World/Mericydia is very, very vauge.

Also... the Au Ra design looks really confusing lore-wise. It makes it look like dragons and humans/elves interbred at one point. Given all the shinangians that happened in HW with dragon/elf relations, it's probably better they don't look more draconic then they already do. From what we've seen of the Au Ra so far, they have very little to do with dragons.

SE just needs to release a Lupine mask and ta-dah you can cosplay them with the halloween parts as well no need to make it a complete race

As far actual beast-like forms, we probably won't get anything too far removed from a human body due to the way they process gear.

See this is why Ivalice moogles would be the perfect race.

-Already have proportions and anatomy similiar to Lalafells so no need to drastically redesign armour
-Have bunny ears to win over the Viera crowd
-Are already cute in the first place
