Honestly they should have waited at least another week or two before turning on the ability to buy personal plots again. Especially if they were planning to open up congested and locked worlds. This is a dumpster fire of salt waiting to happen on two fronts.

Because people will camp the houses they want. So it'll boil down to "who clicked the placard faster" instead of "who logs in faster."

Before maintenance, turn down all your setting and pick a spot to log off where there likely won't be a ton of people. I'd actually suggest one of the existing house wards right to the ferry skipper. Very few people seem to actually stay inside a ward. So that may increase your odds.

Opening Balmung has no bearing on the plots opening up. The plots that are left will be acquired long before you could even finish a transfer that morning anyway. Same for other big realms like Gilgamesh or maybe Cactaur/Mateus.
