No thanks. They have to have a reason for us to not want to die.

Because loosing an instance and starting from the beginning isn't enough of a deterrent? I still don't understand why there's this cry for salt in the wound when it comes to incapacitation. Time wasted is more than enough of a deterrent.

Repairs have become a joke in game. 46%? Hit up an NPC for that 99% for 2K.

It's just nonstop trips if you happen to be doing a lot of leves/grinding/etc. and it's more of an annoyance more than anything. There is really no fear in death in this game.

Bring back deleveling as a replacement or something.

Okay nevermind, because then people would just complain. Though there's plenty of that going on already.

If they made it to where you could de-level upon death like they did in FF11, I'd probably quit, especially if they start charging and don't fix the server latency and animation lock issues in the Ifrit fight that always keeps me and my LS from killing him. Granted, it's easy as hell to level up now, but that could very well change...

And just imagine if you were on one of your crafting jobs, running out to somewhere like Camp Iron Lake to turn in a leve, and all of sudden you get jumped by some of the Kobolds or Raptors that you didn't see because of poor loading times. Not only would it take forever to skill it back up again (unless they change it, of course), but you could lose access to what gear you had equipped, or even what guildleves you could pick up in the first place. Anyone who wants that crap to happen is a masochist, plain and simple, and I don't want anything to do with it... MMO's are enough of a timesink as it is.

All MMORPGs have their annoyances and, as far as annoyances go, the equipment durability system in this game is a minor one. Even compared to other games with a repair system this one is not too bad now. When I want to sell an item I can set it on seek repairs and even with a gil reward just slightly higher than the cost of the dark matter needed to fix it I don't have to wait long. I do find it annoying, however, that you need to repair an item to 100% before it may be traded but I would say the best fix for that is to allow damaged items to be traded. You can see exactly what is being traded so you are able to see an item's durability before accepting it.

As for whatever reason this turned into a death penalty discussion: I don't mind how it is right now. All I hope is that they don't incorporate an experience point loss like FFXI had... I just stopped having nightmares about getting stabbed in the throat over and over in Uggalepih and watching myself level down again and again. Even the sound of it makes me shudder! Dying in the game doesn't have to be a punishment. I find that is a hinderance to enjoying the game when having some fun that may result in dying becomes not worth the effort of re-earning what you lose if you do.

(I really don't want to see repair gone to be replaced by an exp death penalty)
We already have the gimped hp/mp for a set time, maybe make that one more severe.

My eyes must be playing tricks on me because thats exactly what you said.

I suppose someone broke into your account and posted it.

It would make a lot more sense.

Very limited default inventory space that you usually have to expand through F2P cashshop purchases (not always)

Stamina systems, i.e you need to "rest" in order to get better xp overall and so on. Other MMOs have their "hassle" systems, to some (for some reason) XIV's repair is seen as a hassle.
Um sure, F2P is besides the point, I don't play them seriously and even then its hardly inconvenient to buy something in a cash shop when thats's to be expected of you.

Weight management, I can't remember the last MMO that had this feature.

Yes most mmo's start off with 20 bag slots and you have to upgrade your bag, but FF11 did this also so moot point me thinks.

This game used to have a stamina system called fatigue, yup yup it was removed.

None of this has anything to do with repairs in "other" mmos though does it.

Repairs prevent me from enjoying the game like i should, and im not the only one. You devs need to think up different gil sinks.

Every game i have played that has had a repair system ended up getting rid of it because its un-popular. Give us something we want to spend gil on, not spending money on something we already got.

IMO the only reason repairs are in game is cause they do not have anything to replace it with yet. You can see that every time they tweak repairs it gets easier and less bothersome... because it sucks.

With the materia system crafters are taken care of because gear is always being destroyed.

Its gonna happen eventually anyway, just do it.
You must not have played many games then. Every single MMO I have ever played that used the repair system still uses the repair system. Although it can be quite annoying if NPCs could just fix gear to 100% and not have to rely on crafters or let us trade gear at any item durability and put materia in it would be fine.

What they should do is let crafters repair it and HQ a repair making the durabilty go up to like 150% and the item has boosted stats til it drops back down to 100%. Make it like HQing and item and be a semi small chance to be able to do. They repair it past the condition it was in. Just an idea.
