I'm suggesting the possibility that Au Ra were bounced around as potential dragon descendants and that it was something that was scrapped in development, that's all. The general theme of HW and their appearance just strikes me as too much of a coincidence.
DRK came out at same time as HW.... I even unlocked it during early access and even saw him in the tavern....
