    This is a little apropos of nothing and I'm working off some old memories here, but if it serves me correctly, in FF3, wasn't Eureka located under/around the Crystal Tower?

    If this ends up being the case in FF14, I wonder if we're finally going to get a follow-up to Chekhov's Nero's aetherometer. Then again, the quest NPC is in Kugane, so probably not.

    You know, after playing for so long, I've still never been able to get into the Diadem because the queues are so empty. I hope this one goes over a little better.

    They've already said that CURRENTLY it will have nothing to do with the Crystal Tower, they choose the name as an allusion to it because relics. Though there was some hints that later parts of the story related to it might connect to the Tower in some way, but in such a way that it isn't guarenteed.

    I'm kind of surprised that people are not hyped for it.

    This is exactly the type of content I was looking for, item building, NM killing, consequences to dying, team building. A Real reason to be in a LS or FC. I mean that's what an MMO is suppose to be, right?

    Make it like Final Fantasy not WoW.

    Wow. This is almost everything I was hoping it wouldn't be. They literally made a zone for those people who just want FFXIV to be FFXI-2 and not like, accessible.

    Great.



    Farming the Good Samaritan title is going to be easy again, though. Going to try it in action, but yes this sounds pretty unappealing.

    i'm curious to know, why they have create a system based on two of the gameplay the less used, diadem and hunt, generally only a small quantity of player do hunt and diadem is simply a zergfest...
    people did ask for new gameplay not old gameplay for nostalgia...

    i will hold my judgement until do it... but one more time we get a long grind when most of the playerbase hate it. Deep dungeon was liked, but people was asking for more objective and diversity. a loooong grind is not fun, is barely fun.... but who know.

    i'm more concerned by MPK (Monster Player Killer) a player that will train monster on another player for kill it and grief it.
    about the NM, do it will be like FF11 and turn into a camping fest and grief place? it not without reason that when the creation of FF14 2.0 in the poll NM was asked to not be bring, because they are grief feast and often unfair.. like hunt that personally for some i have never seen, because they spawn at hours when i never play.

    a lot of this announcement are concerning, not because Eureka is half baked, more because the base, the fundation that did serve to create it is... bad... gameplay of FF11 and game of this era was good at this time, but the gaming community did evolve... is nice to try to add new gameplay into FF14 but is not in the past that they need to search for it.... but really try to innovate and bring new thing.

    i highly doubt eureka will please a lot of player, is even possible that it will turn like hunt and diadem at them release and become the new content that receive bad review.

    another point that i want to adress, do we get relic weapon and Relic armor from now? because it's important for people that play multiple jobs to know it, since it will decide where will go tomes or token from raid.
    if we receive relic armor, do it limited to jobs or role? and such.... that a loooooot of question left unanswered and that was needing to be adressed, because for me, until eureka come out, i will not use my token nor my tomes until i know it. i can't go decide which armor i will use if i don't even know what will be the reward of eureka and relic quest.

    Sound a lot like Abyssea from XI. Big instances, with lot of monster farm, then meet conditions to spawn the NM that may give you the drop (if you are able to kill), plus death penalty... please do not go on your own, travel with people geared and have idea how it works. Sound really good.

    Cons: May end like diadem, all 144 player on the same spot zergin everything to make the NM pop, witch will be death in a matter of seconds with few casuaties here and there... would be interested how the RNG is from drops, if it works like Hunt system... who knows...

    I would've loved XIV to be a continuation of the ideas and themes of XI, but it's not. And the XI "nod" in 4.2 actually just pissed me off. And Eureka will probably definitely piss me off and fail to scratch any nostalgia itch, too. The design differences between XI and XIV are too great for this to end well for anyone.

    That's certainly the type of stuff I would want in an MMO, yes.

    But that's not going to be what Eureka is. Eureka is going to be "bunch of people sitting around doing nothing until someone spawns an NM, people use LFG to party up, people engage NM" followed immediately by immense levels of anger after the NM dies and half or more of the parties don't get credit because people didn't deal enough damage/generate enough threat because their elemental level was too low or, you know, most of their party actually just really sucks at the game. See also: Diadem 1.0's NMs, Diadem 2.0's Emergency Mission.

    Even if they pull off a miracle and manage to not let it come to that, Eureka is ultimately still only a tiny and insignificant portion of XIV. Everything that comes out of Eureka, glamour aside, will still be behind current gear levels until the end of the expansion where it might be good for 2 weeks before Square adds something equivalent to Diadem 2.0's i280 weapons will be BiS for... the purposes of using as leveling gear in 5.0, or something.

    Man am I sour today. I need a nap.
