Group think is the worst part of the internet. Like systems are just as bad. Its turned into a whole industry, people buying subs/likes/comments. Happens on twitch, youtube twitter, etc. It really should be regulated more. We are in the Snake Oil era of the internet, and people buy it up.
I like to do FATES and SJW are a big problem.
The story of FF14 is fine as a MMO but would not be that great as a single player story. Its so full of tropes and at the same time only gives certain characters development which are often also killed of later because this development might have made us like them and I hate that. It feels like they either dont want the risk of trying to write a good story with less death or that they just go with the easiest way to give us THE feels. NPC friends are either totally willing to throw away their life without any second thought, they then either die or survive (somehow) with some changes but these changes are truly not that hindering for them. (Raubahn and his arm, Ystholas eyes..) Also if they have plot armor NPCs like Ysthola somehow survive direct hits that should have killed them while other not so important npcs will just die straight away..
FF14 also has way too much nostalgie and fanservice in it and with Omega this even much worse than in the past and I am sad that they somehow barely create something that is completely new to the franchise. Even the monsters are often just from other games with barely any twists to them. And if they are not from the other games they are often from myths of our world.
The WoL even though he/she should be a blank character to give us the chance to make them feel like they are our own, feels way more like a character from SE than mine. Its getting a bit better with the talk options but a lot of the actions he/she did is just annoying me so much because the plot often demands us to be a bit stupid..or somehow slow or weaker than we truly are. Dont write scenes that can only happen when someone involved is being stupid or that should normally be stopped but wont because of plot..
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
I think Ala Mhigo's story in SB would have been more interesting if Ilberd was involved and we had to see him and Raubahn interact.
In general, I enjoyed patch villains so much more than expansion villains and kinda wish they stayed more instead of being removed just as they started to get interesting.
I liked Nabriales more than Lahabrea, I liked Teledji more than Lolorito, I liked WoD but they were gone by the time I began to enjoy their story. I would have enjoyed Ilberd vs Raubahn (whom I think had much better build up) more than Lyse vs Fordola in SB. I enjoyed Moenbryda more than Krile and feel like they have same or similar role in the scions except that Moen was hilarious and Krile makes me cringe. I enjoyed Regula's role in the triad only to have him get killed as soon as he started to break the bad garlean cliche.
Meanwhile some NPCs wave their plot armor cause they are 'cute' and I get lowkey bitter at them.
(Its funny..I kinda remember a post in the lore forum how the FF14 lore forum is bad and reddit and gamefaqs is so much better x) I would like reddit a bit more if they had less fanart and more discussion and gamefaqs is just full with mostly trolls that like to attack each other..)
Oh and I hate that we need crystals for each single craft. Its so annoying to have to farm so much just for the crystals instead of having to just farm for the necessary items. Can we tone the amount of crystals down or just take them out completely? I mean that would probably hit quite some bots with their gil farming too..

I think the lore forum is a lot better these days. Mostly because the more aggressive posters who resort to personal attacks and branding anyone with a different view to them as 'trolls' have stopped posting for the most part. As for why I post there so often? It's mostly in the hope that something comes of my feedback. It's regrettable that you effectively need to go on and on about things day in, day out for there to even be a chance of it being acknowledged. That's why I persistently go on about the way in which the European promotional campaigns were handled. It's also why I go on and on about the disproportionate amount of focus on female orientated hairstyles and glamour. Then, of course, there's my feedback regarding nuanced antagonists over in the lore forum.
Yeah. Any system that highlights comments based on on voting only serves to be plagued by people baiting the system by saying what they think the crowd wants to hear. It doesn't lend itself to mature, civil debate. So you just end up with a bunch of people stroking each other's egos and regurgitating the exact same talking points. Occasionally people stray and post different views but even if they're constructive they just tend to be silenced through downvotes. It's not like problematic comments couldn't simply be handled by moderators, either - that's been the best solution since the early days of the internet, after all. If a site can't keep up with the demand for moderators? Well, maybe that should be taken as a sign that the sites in question needs to scale back their operations instead of relying on flawed 'like' and 'dislike' systems.Group think is the worst part of the internet. Like systems are just as bad. Its turned into a whole industry, people buying subs/likes/comments. Happens on twitch, youtube twitter, etc. It really should be regulated more. The game is actually pretty bad.
open world dungeons would be cooler.
