I want to start by saying that the moment I got on this morning I was so happy to finally get a house.... then there's restrictions. Okay, no big deal I'll just wait an hour. Oh shit... restrictions still there. Screw it, I'll go to sleep for a bit and come back later. 9 HOURS AFTER, there were still restrictions. I began to lose hope and saw that all large and mediums including the one I wanted were all taken. I have a ton of gil I do nothing with unless glamours become cheap and I was really hoping it would be the day but noooo you guys had to fuck it all up all over again only because you have FC's FIRST SERVE WITHOUT notifying PERSONAL HOUSING users when the restrictions will be lifted. Were you guys in the board room meeting just... okaying the right to fuck personal housing users without ANY GIVEN time frame when restrictions will be lifted? You could have did anything... hell you could have made a countdown on the website but while I agree FC's should get first serve, I dont agree that this was the right choice to once again fuck your loyal players. I'm aware this is a virtual house and I'm certainly aware I can pick up a small once restrictions are lifted and upgrade later on but why? Why would I flush 3 million gil down the toilet just to get a pass to the actual house I wanted in a future patch? This is UNACCEPTABLE. House whores exist but some of us just want one house...just one. I'm sorry but this isn't the way a housing system should be implemented. Let me reserve a house I want for a godamn fee and i'll do it but dont say fuck you to your loyal players and give them no timeframe for when restrictions will be lifted.

Because, unfortunately, you will likely never get a medium or large unless you already have a small to use as relocation fodder. They intend to repeat the "FCs and relocators go first" thing any time they add new housing wards.

Just pray they announce it beforehand and don't just randomly flip the switch like Christmas 2015. Don't camp the houses. Don't get worked up. Check the Lodestone once a night before bed so you can set the alarm early in the event they have a maintenance notice posted. Considering there was no hour delay today, you have to decide for yourself if it's worth trying to get up early and potentially walk away with nothing due to server instability.


And yes, it goes without saying that the housing system is bottom of the barrel trash.

This is the first time they've done it like this, they don't know what kind of time frame to put in. They want to give FCs a good decent amount of time and assess what sells. Next time they do this they'll have an idea of how long before allowing it. As of now though, I wouldn't expect them to be open until the Feb 13th maint.

Except the developers stated multiple times in multiple places that housing was going to be FC only (unless you already own a personal and can relocate) until further notice. This was regards to the auto-demolished plots AND the new housing release. There was zero reason to assume that the restrictions on personal houses were going to be lifted today, especially since the Housing website they put up states as such.

After the scheduled maintenance on Tuesday, February 6, new plots in each residential district will be made available for purchase as follows:

Sale Restriction per District:

[Each highlighted that private housing is suspended.]

The developers have stated that they will monitor the situation after 4.2 Housing was released to try and determine when to allow personal plot purchases. Should they have given a time-frame? Perhaps. But to just assumed personal housing would be unrestricted today is just poor foresight on your part, and you can’t blame the developers for that.

I'm not sure if your complaint is that you thought "until further notice" meant nine hours, or if you're upset that you're probably going to have to settle for a small when private housing is opened again.

Housing wards like this will never work in an MMO if you want the system to be fair. The only way to go about it is to give players instanced housing and allow FCs to use instanced houses for FC houses.

And while they are at it let all players have access to workshops and 3 garden plots each.

I mentioned that, yes. However, making fc only houses also screws a ton of players and the devs said housing for 4.1 was received badly. I believe fc are important but they shouldnt get absolutely everything. I have zero faith they will come up with a solution. Both patches were an extreme disaster for housing.

The only solution to housing is to make instanced housing, allow FCs to use instanced housing, and give individual players access to workshops.

They keep doubling down on their crappy housing system and it will never work.
