Well, I managed to relocate my house to a nicer plot, but sadly my husband (who doesn't own any houses, or have a FC) couldn't buy a house.

And you don't share your house with your husband?

Why does your husband's needs trump an entire fc's? What's wrong with a married couple sharing a house?

If SE really wanted to fix the housing problem, they would get over this idiotic notion that housing should be a limited commodity.
THIS is what invites abuse, and makes SE have to dance around trying to address its "broken" system to prevent abuse, which only leads to new and more inventive means of abuse and everyone feeling like it's unfair.

Everyone who wants a house should be able to have one.
Conversely, if people have no interest in a house except for the free company perks, there should be no NEED for any individual to own a house.

It should be available for everyone who wants it.
It should not be required, because not everyone does want it.

Well... there are still several plots open on Balmung actually. Mostly smalls, naturally, but I'm actually pretty amazed. If housing had stayed FC restricted all along, we might not even have needed this latest batch of wards.

There are still quite a lot of houses open even after hours so yes the "problem" is the indiviual housing and I will never understand why SE could not forsee this. I mean they could have kept the wards for FC only which we would have enough houses right now. And release instances housing for individuals. Have it a nice view and maybe the possibility of owning more than one instanced house and there would have never been such a huge problem..I really hope that they see that and maybe think about adding instanced housing or increasing the size of the apartments by a lot..

Its perfectly fair.... FC's should get the first shot at buying, as it servers more people and unlocks game systems exclusive to FCs.
Given the inactivity in my ward, I expect a fair number of demolitions as well.

This is like watching people rage about Guild Wars 2 WvW system, which is a huge problem to fix in its own right. There's no way everyone will be pleased. Being a super old returning player (when I first played I think housing either just came out or did not even exist), I was surprised to hear from a friend about how hard it was to get housing so was super excited about this upcoming patch.

I take it that half the people here think that the developers for SE are incredibly dumb or very sadistic, given that they did not "fix" such an "easy" issue? If you think they aren't that dumb (I mean realistically they can't actually be that dumb) then it's probably not simple for them to fix it?

FYI GW2 World Vs. World was shafted (at least for those who really frequented it) for about... 5 years now? I think it's been downhill since day 1 so........

Yeah and just to clarify, I do agree the housing situation seems pretty bad, regardless of how SE landed themselves into this situation!

Just wanted to point out it may be difficult (for some reason or another, I unfortunately study economics math and science so I don't know enough about IT) for people at SE to have resolved the issue due to a myriad of reasons we aren't privy to.

What I dont like is how long the people that want personal houses have to wait to get a house like here on Balmung yeah theres a lot of small houses but if SE waits a week to see how the market is there wont be anything left for the people who like me have saved up for months for a personal house as it is Im camping a plot that I can just about afford but when personal opens? Either that plot will be owned by an FC or someone will beat me to it bc of my work schedual. Really hope I get the plot though.

Not trying to use it as entitlement hell I have a medium house for my FC I just dont like waiting and considering most FCs (at least from what I see on blamung) dont want small houses and most of the mediums/larges are taken well yeah SE could have handled this a lil better for people who want a personal especially on larger servers like well Balmung.
