Lev 50 way ahead of MSQ

As the title says I'm lev 50 doing lev 41 MSQ, I haven't even reached the Garuda quest. I originally did have a lev 46 weapon should I have kept that instead of buying a lev 50 weapon off the MB? Do I now wait to get gear until I reach lev 60? At the rate I'm going I'm liable to be lev 70 before I reach SB!

Poetics can buy Shire gear at 60 so yea I'd wait til 60 and noit get lvl 50 gear.

It's really a personal choice. I suspect you'll have plenty of tomestones to buy both 50 and 60 gear.

I believe you'll need to get SOME level 50 upgrades to meet requirements going through the MSQ between ARR and HW, but until you hit 50 it's really not a requirement and you can likely get whatever level 50+ gear you qualify for for not TOO much.

You get plenty of gear rewards from the 2.1-2.55 MSQ - enough to have a full set of i110 gear by the time you are ready to enter Ishgard. Spending some tomestones on Ironwork gear can be nice, but not needed for progression.

If u can buy ilvl 120 tome gear. After u get to HW u can upgrade those gear at lvl 56 for ilvl 139 at Sea of Clouds, Ok'Zundu - Zundu Sell-It (11.2,13.8) this should last u till u get your shire gear at lvl 60. After u hit Idyllshire and u hit lvl 60 u can buy shire gear. You should do your lvl 50/60 duty roulette 20 times before you get to Idyllshire.

You will get to Idyllshire around your lvl 58 main quest.

And i highly recommend do your lvl 50 job quest, it gives your ilvl 90 gear on your left side. And do those dungeons for obtaining poetics: https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Dungeons
The Path of the Righteous and The Rising Chorus are locked behind MSQ so dont stress out if u dont find them, but you should unlock the other dungeons.
There will be some dungeons are locked behind ilvl you only need farm lower ilvl dungeons to get poe and get ilvl 120 tome gear. I recommend you que up atleast once for every dungeon u unlock it should be enough to get your right side (accesorys) to be ilvl 120 gears.
