I'm not against making healers more engaging, but I stand by my statement I made in the thread in the Healer subforum that was sort of similar to this. Making the job have more interwoven mechanics and such is fine, but it'll just further the gap between bad and good healers. These changes would make bad healers far more apparent. I like the idea of a higher skill ceiling but I'm not sure how I feel about adding some of these changes.

    They are interesting ideas regardless.

Nothing about what she said is even remotely complicated, it's about spell synergy to make gameplay more enjoyable.

AST is a prime example of a dps rotation that is not only extremely boring, but doesn't flow well at all. Having healer dps be more engaging and interesting for when you have to dps isn't a bad thing.

Healer dps rotations are bland because anything complex would be much more difficult to effectively weave in with healing. If a person wants an engaging dps rotation then they should play a dps class. Not play some class whose primary role is something else.

Furthermore people usually play healers because they like to heal. Making healing more engaging would be a much more rewarding experience for them than making dps more engaging.

"Hay, lets just jump the shark completely guys."

That's what the thread title should be.

    That's a little harsh.

This is something that healers talk about on occasion... trying to find ways to make our role more engaging outside spamming 1 or two spells when not healing, or to try and come up with ideas to make dpsing seem more appealing on healers. It's not really jumping the shark.

Well, how are tanks and DPS players rewarded for proper gcd/ogcd execution? Increased potencies, enmity generation, HP/MP restoration, increased durations, etc. Correct? So how do you reward a healer when their entire toolkit is nearly always situational? It would be very difficult with the way our current healers are set up. However, I don't think it is entirely impossible. For example, stacking Bio/Bio2 and Miasma on a mob would proc your Adlo AND Broil so the next time you cast either (you have to choose), it's a 100% critical rate. So if someone needs the Adlo, you cast it; if not, then Broil a mob. However, you cannot clip the dots, or it won't proc.

I also think what you're asking for can be accomplished with another healer job. As a new job, they have a blank canvas to create it so it would be easier to design it in a way that intergrades their healing and DPS toolkits. I still feel like Dancer being our first healer/ranged melee hybrid is the perfect opportunity to make this happen. A healer who increases both healing and DPS capability through their offensive toolkit. I honestly believe it would be received and very fun to play if done right.

If dpsing would synergized just as suggested, I would prefer getting Virus and Disable back instead to be honest. Any form of mitigation trough damage spells (paladin, war, monk) were removed, why would healer get it instead ? I don't think it would work.
Honestly I wouldn't want that happen because, with that easy rotation since I'm spamming that same spell over and over, I can keep an eye on my party and see what my co-healer/tank or even dps do, as well as watching carefully mechanics. I don't want to worry about having to cast x Stone or Broil to have some extra healing or mitigation.

All this thread is asking for is RDM with an AoE heal

I mean if we are taking healers to the extreme DPS.
Otherwise you are asking for a bunch of extra keys to press that do the same DMG as current healer.
    It's one or the other.

I did dude. So I'll repeat myself. Seems like you did not read what I wrote.
