Parser mentality is basically a way for a player/players to nitpick, it stretches beyond if the run was "smooth" or not, to well what did the dps do, what did the tank do, what did the heals do.

It normally boils down to, oh I did more dps then you, so I am better than you so wtf are you doing in my dungeon run scrub? Git Gud.

*pinches nose* I have my own thoughts on that, but for once, I'm just going to leave this branch of discussion alone. Not particularly a response to you, but just the mention of 'parser mentality' and how it came about in this particular discussion is gonna spark a debate if I replied that ...doesn't belong in this particular thread.

Just came out of a painfully slow Skalla run with the BLM and DRG blaming each other for having low dps the whole from the first boss till the end. Had a closer look on the last boss and yeah.

Well, this is beyond awful. I was interested and did a quick test:

#1 AFK autoattacking for 2 minutes. No buffs/no Ammo/no CDs/nothing.
- resulted in 1200 DPS without any 350 importants pieces (weapon/etc) and some 330.

#2 Autoattacking with 111111111111111111 Split Shot spamming for 2 minutes. No buffs/no Ammo/no CDs/nothing, just "1111 spam" + autoattack.
- resulted in 2880 DPS in 2 minutes timeframe.

And this is single target ^

Which means those BLM and DRG didn't even press any buttons entire dungeon. Even if you press 1111111111111111, your DPS will be much higher.

TL;DR This is beyond awful.

And people still questioned why Yoshida don't want to implement official parser, i.e. he don't want people to see this.
Many people, when meet an obstacle, don't want to improve/solve the problem and simply quits. (which will directly affect $$$ income)

Then why ask what it is. I don't agree with the idea, but I do know what it is/causes. Seen it first hand, its not good.

That. Absolutely. Sucks. /hug. I feel like i need to apologize on behalf of all BLMs for that pathetic excuse.

And when we say that the average preformance of the player base is very low people think we are exaggerating and jump to defend.

My only defense would be that people tend to exaggerate(whether consciously or via confirmation bias) how many players are in that bottom tier.

Honestly your gear is probly still too good for this test to be totally accurate. I cant speak for a dragoon(i understand how they work but dont play one), but that BLM is probly scraping the minimum ilvl for the zone(based on the strength of their hardest hit). Id be curious how your numbers would look if you swapped your normal gun for something like the Antiquated Outsider you got from your level 70 quest(keeping your armor should be fine).

They both had just over 35k hp so my rough guess would be at around ilvl 330 for the blm.

Sure, no problem. It's 1080 DPS for the first test and 2529 DPS for second. Everything is the same as in previous post. (overall 10% damage decrease for this test)
That aside, at that point in story people should already use 310 set, with some 330 parts mix. Not to mention, you can buy 320 HQ crafted weapon for 500k or around that, maybe cheaper, depends on server.

p.s. But there's ilvl310min for Hell's Lid, i.e. both DRG and BLM was at or above ilvl310. Doubt they used an i290 weapon.

Hmm, so quite often, I'll remove some gear before queuing in order to avoid certain fights by dropping my iLVL. I did that on my trial this morning, but it wouldn't let me put my actual gear back on - even before the barrier dropped.

Ended up fighting Leviathon dressed like:

There's a glitch/bug right now that won't let you use recommended gear or gear sets while in a dungeon. You would have had to equip each piece individually.

Ahhh, thank you! I will keep that in mind, and maybe just suck it up and accept whatever trial/dungeon is sent my way
