I think the largest disappointment for me is the Job restrictions still apply. As an omin-crafter, I was excited to mix crafting gear items and get rid of some combat based job items that are basically duplicates with slightly different colour schemes.

disappointment, while understandable because there are SO many neat models/skins in the crafter/gatherer lines, really should be tempered by the fact that they never promised any feature like this in the announcements or patchnotes.

If you're just expressing general disappointment that this is STILL the case though.. Yeah.. That sucks.

They basically just introduced a beta test of a new Glamour system that, with significant work, could prove to be an outright improvement over the existing system. Colour me shocked, just shocked, that SE would release a system in such an unfinished state.

Incidentally, I find it disturbing that it's so inferior to a Glamour Log a la GW2 and WoW. Again, to recap: a F2P title and a game with an initial architecture designed approximately 15 years ago have better Glamour systems than FFXIV. This, despite roughly 2.5 attempts at creating a successful Glamour system in FFXIV (the original release counting as one; the elimination of tiered Glamour Prisms counting as 1/2 of an attempt; this new Glamour Dresser counting as a fresh attempt). "Server limitations" my arse; SE's programming group is just incompetent in comparison to other AAA MMOs.

And the thing is, this isn't small potatoes. I have a handful of friends from FFXI who have played FFXIV on and off in the past, and I'd love to encourage them to return. But every time I try, they bring up this laundry list of questions: "Are Glamours any less terrible? Is itemization any more creative? Is the overworld any more compelling? Can FATE music finally be turned off? Are world transfer restrictions / character creation limits still in place? Do jobs finally involve some skill rather than rotation spamming?" etc., etc. And I have to reply, every time, that no, the game is more or less the same as they left it. And so they don't end up subscribing again. I'm sure I'm not alone in this boat, either. I'll be joining my friends as soon as my girlfriend loses interest, too, because XIV simply hasn't grown at all since its release, despite a desperate need for evolution.

SE needs to stop screwing around with this stuff. They cut down the number of dungeons they released in order to theoretically improve their ability to offer original content and/or resolve longstanding problems. Where's the fruit of this labour? Show us the results, SE. Your subscriber base isn't going to stick around forever.

Pretty much right there with you Vhailor. I've given up on trying to get anyone to play. None of my friends can play with me since my server is seemingly permanently closed due to server limitations. Oh and you can't get a house because of server limitations. And your inventory is always going to be full because of server limitations. The glamour system sucks because of server limitations. Gear progression is horridly boring and dull due to server limitations.

It's insane that LotRO, WoW, EQ2, SWG all have better housing systems than FFXIV and all but SWG have better 'glamour' systems. But development of FFXIV is very much stuck in a perpetual state of doing the bare minimum. I can't remember the last patch that I've been excited for some new addition. I'm always excited for a QoL feature.

i'd say don't use it at all until they fix some of the more glaring issues.
    Unique gear not being replacible
not enough plates for all jobs let alone alternate outfits
plates feel like they should go in an equipment slot, could use the left side opposite of soul crystal
maybe this exists but a way to apply dyes unique to the plate would be important for me since i use some pieces in different colors for different jobs
    it goes on really

30 plates you can open up and dye pieces individually in and all the truly unique gear has a place in armoire and i'd be happy with it forever

I did went abit crazy. I have 8 retainers with almost full gear from events, the new job quests, dungeon gear from hoarding for 4 years. I still have probably 50+ gear that i can't put in my dresser or the armoire chest. I hope they increase it to at least 500 or 1000 soon

These are the ones I'm aware of:
    - wedding items
    - friendship circlet
    - relic weapons if you haven't finished the whole quest line to get replicas

Of course it's also worth keeping out Mog Station items and Armoire items with expensive dyes because of the limits of 10 plates and 200 items. I wish there was a way to add items in the inventory to plates.

Danke all for all the info and advice. Ellie was able to make a working set of 10 outfits in her plates without running into anymore pitfalls. > w < ❤

A strong community is more valuable than any feature! Hopefully they will listen to everyone's feedback and make it into something truly grand and without frustration.

This isn't correct. When I stuffed my Glacial Coat in there it kept the Pure White dye.

Edit: I'm wrong. Mixed up the dresser and the Armoire.
