The housing situation

I am curious about how housing is being handled right meow. FC's are the only ones that can purchase new plots as they become available, but there is a timer in place, so first time FC home buyers are stuck waiting for the timer. Whereas a private homeowner can relocate their entire plot instantly, basically making the time a person(s) spent trying to claim the plot pointless.

With Squeenix trying to make FC home buying a priority, so they can gain access to content, it seems to me that the current situation is not at all for their benefit. I just witnessed an individual that had been waiting to purchase their first home for their FC get shafted by someone who decided to move their personal house there "for a change of scenery".

Just venting my frustrations with this whole housing situation. There are other MMO's that have housing done in much better ways that SE could have learned from, instead we are left with this.

Well, to be 100 accurate. Anytime someone relocates they leave an empty plot behind. So eventually FC's do get access to additional plots. The only downside is that the plots they do get are the left-over goblet small houses that literally no one else wanted who could relocate. Basically the worst of the worst houses. Still, this still gives FCs access to that content.

I think they needed to put out a solution and the change to the purchase code was all they could fit in the time limit before patch release. If the idea was to let FCs not only gain housing, but gain access to the larger housing as well then I imagine the next time they do some tweaking it will be to the relocation code so they can cut of personal transfers during the initial fc only period. I hope they do look into how the rng timer is handled on top of that though.

As you stated, yes, they leave a plot behind, but that plot has a random timer placed on it. This was the underlying issue I was trying to present. FC waits at plot for a few hours, individual moves to said plot, FC has to find plot, get to it and wait, again, potentially for hours, and rinse repeat. I think that is a pretty rough situation.

Absolutely agreed. But I can understand the original reasoning behind it- relocating doesn't take up an open house plot, just moves it to a different plot, so technically nothing is lost. In practice it's terrible though. I wonder if the coding between buy and relocating is so different that it would be hard for them to lock both.

I don't care if personal relocation is locked or unlocked, but I do think that relocation (personal or FC) should not be possible if a plot is on a timer. That would make it more fair, which is something they claimed they wanted to do.
