ah yes, nothing simpler than adapting systems from an older game with a completely different engine amirite?
Yes adapting a CONCEPT is the same thing as ripping code from a completely different engine and shoving into an already spaghettified mess. You totally got what I was saying, bravo
Even though XI threw together their own version of glamour, PF, companions, and even took in the iLvl concept without hassle. XIV can't take ideas from an older game and make them work, you're right that is too hard for the devs.
See I can misrepresent your statement too
I like the new system, but I only play like 3 jobs on a regular basis and have a few specific outfits I like on them and I don't think that's something that applies to most of the regular playerbase.
Like a lot of features in XIV, they tend to introduce it; then improve it later.
It is my hope they do the same for the glamour dresser, as it is quite flawed atm (I thought they were going to allow us to have different glamours via the plates for jobs of the same role??)
I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were a game dev who understood ff14 inside out and could claim with certainty the only reason they haven't adapted this system is just because they didn't feel like it. now if you don't mind, I'm gonna err on the side of making the system people want is actually more complicated than it seems and they rather put more effort into things they can accomplish a lot easier, faster.Yes adapting a CONCEPT is the same thing as ripping code from a completely different engine and shoving into an already spaghettified mess. You can, indirectly...
Just use the macro
/gearset change 1 2
Where 1 is the gearset number, and 2 is the plate number.
What this will do is once you use your job switch macro, it switches to that job/gearset and applies the plate after you switch..
----
I haven't played around with it too much yet but my main critisism is that 10 plates seems a little bit too skimp.. As someone who plays a lot of classes, is an omnicrafter, and gatherer - the best thing about the dresser gets trivialised - being able to apply different glamours to shared pieces of gear (say SAM and MNK for example, or any of the DoH/DoL shared gear).. This is because to do this with just your crafters, would consume 8 of the 10 plates.. That's discounting DoL and battle classes.. :/
The other thing I don't like about it is the fact that they didn't release a craftable/purchasable dresser.. It's annoying to have to go to my Inn room just to access it. Houses / apartments / FC rooms / etc are just a lot more convenient.

I too have yet to try it out, is if user friendly at least to use??
You are really terrible (good?) about taking a statement and twisting it into a strawman. In other threads I've defended SE's choices of working within the limitations that obviously exist but like many longtime players we can see the spots where they painted themselves into corners for reasons. And if you don't like my comments, ask any of the many players here who ARE coders and database experts, they exist. The glamour dresser isn't perfect and needs adjustment that will surely come in time but as of right now doesn't meet the needs of a lot of players, that's just the facts. Could they have worked longer on a better system? Definitely but it's always a hard act to balance
This is really a case of if you don't like it don't use it... I imagine they will make it available outside of town and items retrievable as it evolves... but since the old system is still in place nobody HAS to use the new one
I suppose in the most simplistic sense, yes, if you don't like it don't use it, but that does not mean that people should just be thrilled about this interesting system that we've been given. It is designed horribly, and it's convoluted as only SE can manage. I suppose it's a baby-step in the right direction, but there is a lot of work to be done to make this a decent system.
