Gender-locking gear is asinine, it's 2018 ffs. Less gender roles, more King's Hawaiian rolls please and thank you
"Hello, I'm auditioning for the role of Ser Aymeric de Borel, and I'll be singing Electric Chapel by Lady Gaga"
Locking certain outfits to specific genders isn't the problem. Not providing an equal amount of options for male characters compared to female characters, however, is. A 'bunny outfit' with the male form in mind could be made, many suggestions as to how it could be the case have been made throughout this very thread.
Making the female version of the outfit available to male characters does nothing for those of us who do not play a feminine male character. It has become very obvious with hairstyles that 'unisex' for the developers just means making stuff with female characters in mind and male characters as an afterthought. That both hairstyles for 4.2 were shown off on female characters in previews is a testament to that.

Yet, Asahi wears one of the two new styles, meaning it was made for a male character.
Really, the issue with short hair is it looks good on females, but longer styles that appear to have extra care put into them don't translate as well.
This is an issue with fashion in the real world, and a terrible stereotype. Men who put concerted effort into their appearance are less masculine, and men's clothing is far less dynamic. That's just the same in FFXIV.
(At least we don't see full plate mail turn into bikini armor the moment a female avatar equips it.)
Disgusting please dont...i remember an old forum complaining male gear were to feminine..
Have you read the thread at all? We don't want a carbon copy of what the girls have. We want a sexy outfit just for guys, made to highlight male sex appeal. If SE does it right it would HAVE to be locked to guys anyway.
If you feel icky seeing guys in various states of undress that's a separate issue not really in the scope of this thread. But we'll keep campaigning for equal treatment on your behalf anyway. =)
The thing is, male fashion doesn't need to be feminine. It simply needs to highlight the male form and compliment it tastefully. Variety is key, though so far we're not getting much variety in terms of hairstyles. Many are designed to be androgynous or feminine and specific requests for things like facial hair and a masculine version of the infamous bunny suit are either ignored or delayed indefinitely.
As far as 4.2 is concerned, I feel like it was great in terms of combat glamour for male characters. Yet again, though, it did not deliver much in terms of hairstyles or 'civilian' clothing. Naturally some people will think differently, yet I am not going to be quiet until we start getting things like Nero's stubble and Hien's stubble and hairstyle as customisation options.
I can't imagine how creeped out the Japanese are by the West's consistent demands to crossdress. It's creepy and weird just like when people keep asking for butt sliders. I want more options, but I don't want creepy options. More faces and hairstyles not ripped from other FF games. I want cooler male clothing. I don't want female clothing on men. Demanding your fetishes be put in the game needs to stop.
Either go back and actually read the thread or go away. Your trolling is unbelievably obvious at this point.I can't imagine how creeped out the Japanese are by the West's consistent demands to crossdress.
