    The reason he is claiming it to be dead weight is because the Wyvern's defenses were like that of a naked-no gear player and one AoE attack or two from a boss fight killed it, and thus you would have to wait for the beast to be resummoned. OR you could try to keep it alive and Spirit Link (give it a % of your HP to heal it) and piss off all the mages because you just lost like 500 HP in the blink of an eye.

    Haha yea that's very true. It seems I forgot how Dragoon ended up in the later patches of the game. Well XIV is the next chance at redemption; wouldn't you like to see it done right? What would you consider "right" for the Wyvern (give it a chance for curiosity's sake)?

    1st and foremost, to not be able to be two-hit KO'd from a boss and have to wait more than 3 minutes for the next Wyvern. (Its defenses should be equal to the Dragoons, not this 1/4 or 1/3 of it crap like in XI)

    2nd, to not have the 90% of the Dragoon's abilities rely on the fact that the Wyvern is out (They should be strong without the Wyvern and give additional effects when it is out, kind of thing, not crippling weak without the Wyvern and strong when it is out)

    3rd Wyvern needs armor to strengthen it just like the Dragoon needs armor to strengthen it.

    4th on the topic of armor, don't just give Dragoon gimmicky traits on their armor to "enhance" the Wyvern, those should have been separate abilities/traits dammit! (See FFXI Artifact/Relic/Empyrean Body Armor for reference) In doing so with the armor, don't make it super weak just because we have a Wyvern....actually balance it to match with the other DDs.

    There are probably more things I can nit-pick about but those were the big things from XI that bugged me. That said I was a Dragoon main! and loved that job more than any of my other max level jobs lol.

    Agreed entirely. XI was the starting point, now the goal is to have XIV perfect the Wyvern.

    It was every intention to not have my idea here cripple the Dragoon in any way; nor the Wyvern. Dragoon should perform at top peak in both situations, together and without Wyvern.

    I like the idea of equipping the Wyvern with it's own unique armor. This not only enhances your pet but enables your gear to be free of the crippling "enhances Wyvern" effects and instead you can have more important armor effects. Separate is better; I'm not here to cripple a fun class lol.

    Dragoon is fun as it is, but there's so much unused potential!
