It wouldn't be lost though. For arguments sake we'll say you'll NEVER have to empty out the dresser to make more room in this situation. You'd NEVER lose the ability to make things look LIKE the item.
If we could have a guarantee that no matter what you'd have the functionality (ability to make something look like it) available, but not the item itself anymore. Would you still hoard the item?
Nobody cries because they're going to miss the 4 def on whatever piece it is. They'd be sad because it wouldn't be available for its looks.
Here's what I'm getting at here: The system has the POTENTIAL to do this. If we can show support for what it does and ask for it to be BETTER rather than just poo-pooing the whole thing and asking for them to start over because this doesn't immediately do everything we're asking for exactly as we want it to, this might happen sooner rather than later.
However if we balk, and start to whinge about how we want the ability to take back the items and how scary it is we might lose the items and "ohhh but what about my items!" , we present the wrong message: that we care about the items. We don't. Well, from what I have heard and seen we don't. I won't presume to know everyone's mind. People might have sentimental attachments or something else as esoteric. But the majority of us (the glamouring community) care only that we can make things look like other things and that that functionality be available as freely as possible for as much stuff as possible. We don't WANT inventory clogging stuff, we want as many glamour options as possible at any given moment.
What SE might HEAR though is "please always keep the ability for us to get these items back because we care about the items themselves". I'm 99.999% sure this is NOT what the community feels.
or am I completely wrong and you all care about the actual items and want infinite inventory so you can have stuff AND glamour? (this will NEVER happen btw, not in this game and not without a complete rework of the underlying data storage and referencing)
You're talking about the +% xp items and the earrings and junk with +1 str or whatever correct?
Yeah, I see those as stumbling points, but there aren't a LOT of those and I can see those being moved to other methods of replacement/storage. it's not like anyone would really miss a 1 VIT earring for it's stats. You're sub level 15 for maybe.. 3 hours? More of course if you're taking in the sights and just exploring, but stats aren't really a "thing" until you've gotten into the job at 30. Nobody failed something because of 1 stat point and by then you'd be able to buy better gear from an NPC.
