Glamour dresser red flag

Item destruction pretty much means I will not use the glamour dresser, and will glamour manually.

Pretty much this.
The new system could have been as neat as WoWs but apparently SE wasn't willing to design properly.

I'm certainly not going to permanently destroy gear, when I have no clue how to get it again.

The plates apply the glamour onto the gear itself so if you want to use the old system too, you need to keep reapplying the glamours on individual pieces. For example: 1) glamour RDM the old way with 5 prisms, 2) glamour SMN the new way by using a plate, 3) use another 5 prisms to glamour RDM again because the SMN plate overwrote the original glamour. The glamour plate doesn't go "over" the old glamour appearance, but rather replaces it. This means wearing a unique outfit on each job is as cumbersome and expensive as it has always been, i.e. you have to re-glamour every time when changing a job.

So, if I understood correctly:
I cannot create a plate that has, say only earrings and necklace in it while the rest is left empty in order to quickly change jewelry sets b/c it always applies EVERYTHING, so my cat would end up naked?
