    Glamour Plates

Now, completely ignoring the whole part about "Limited storage space AND they destroy your items" being a terrible idea for a moment.

Here's how they should work when applying them to your gear.
Equip Plate 1 while PLD, save gear.
Equip Plate 2 while DRK, save gear.
Switching to PLD displays Plate 1
Switching back to DRK displays Plate 2
Now you can be Lightning while a PLD and Cloud when a DRK and you can do it on the fly, while sharing the same gear between the two. Go fanboy it up.

Simple. Easy. Convenient. Makes sense and is not annoying.

    Here's how they actually work.
Equip Plate 1 While PLD, save gear.
Equip Plate 2 while DRK, save gear.
Switch to PLD, and you're still wearing Plate 2. Realize that they are literally just overwriting your glamour on the same shared gear over and over, completely defeating the point of any of this. Go back to town every time you want your PLD to look like Lightning and your DRK to look like Cloud. You loser.

    This is bad and lame.

A glamour plate should be a completely separate entity that shouldn't project over the gear you have equipped like a normal glamour. It should become a single "Item" with it's own unique slot on the paper doll that simply ignores all of your gear in favor of the projected appearance of the plate.

I agree that it's a serious let down.

On the bright side though, they have talked about tying glamour plates to gear sets in a future update. I can only hope that they also remove the "Must be in a major city" restriction then too.
Would've been nice to have had such things ironed out from the get-go, but I think we're all used to that not being how things work by now...

Make sure they're in your armoire.
There's a button on the glamour dresser that allows it to switch to armoire view and pick things from it.

So let me understand this...I haven't logged in yet to try it out.
I have a gear set for all my jobs currently and all assigned with my current glam. That's good. if I go Pld I get my Pld Glam, if I change to ninja I get my ninja glam. That's fine.
If I use glamour plates, I will change to Ninja from Pld and still have my pld glam on? How would that work if it's role specific gear (Sabotons for example)?
Does it mean that every time I change job I need to return to a city, go to an Inn and equip the plate I want for that Job? If so I'll be back and forward from cities non stop.
Think I'll stick to current method if I can. Glam and save as gear sets. seems to be less hassle even if it means taking up Armory chest space.

Basically, it functions exactly the same as the prism system. So if you equip a Plate while wearing the Augmented Lost Allagan Surcoat of Fending, every job that can wear that piece will now have the same outfit. If you want three unique glamours for your tanks, you'll need to use three plates. That might have worked... if they didn't restrict it to ten damn slots.

Nah. It's sorta basically like the normal glamour with extra steps. The plates apply glamours to your items (without using extra crystals). It's not gear-set specific is the thing.

So you apply a glamour plate, and it glamours whatever items you were wearing at the time. If any other job/set uses the same equipment, it also gets hit with those same glamours.

Once they tie plates to sets, it might be a little better. But still likely some awkward problems.
