Please get rid of atomicdeath.
well you skipped over the whole thread were all i said was that gear damage wasn't not here from the start as a penatly for dying since that is a newer aspect. i never argued anything about gear damage for being in battle there fore i skipped over that part. You skipped over a part of his sentence -- "A penalty for being in combat or dieing." Repair systems are in MMOs for the purpose of keeping players engaged in character management. It was added as a death penalty (all MMOs have one) because people would be upset for losing miniscule exp that's made up in minutes.

I absolutely hated repairs at first. It was very expensive, very solo unfriendly (if you died, no one around to raise you), and 75% was frustrating considering the rate at which armor would break down.
Now?
I have appropriate armor for my level, and I go a week or more without really thinking about repairing any gear. When it's time, the NPC takes care of it up to 99% ~ not even an issue for me personally.
Repairs suck because when I want to lend equipment to a friend, I have to make sure its 100% first.
Stupid.
do people not notice that this was clearly a troll post? the person joined today, made one post (this one) and has not done anything since?
-.-
although since this has started a discussion, I would say I am for the gear repair, like others have said, it requires players to manage more.
I like the current repair system. It's like give public still some attention to to crafters while won't bother them too much.
Before I do craft is totally to repair my own items. That's also the reason most of my friends lv crafts. Now they all simply ignore crafting because it's cheap enough to afford.
If there is no repair, the current death punishment need to be adjust again. I don't want to get back to the XI style that one death = ~ half hour of exp pt.
Its not that hard to get things repaired.. there are NPC's even out at most (if not all) aetherytes as well as in town. They fix things to 99% which is good enough for the most part as I believe I read somewhere that it doesn't really scale down attributes until its under some low % mark. You only need things at 100% if you want to trade or sell them. It doesn't even affect materia quality when changing items into materia. It hasn't even costed me that much to fix things. I'd rather fix things then lose exp, so I think its good as is.
