I mean come on.... sometimes you just need to look at the total ridiculousness of the situation and just say NO. The devs can do better than a fish that has a tiny window once every 3 weeks. You can like fishing just fine without mindlessly liking crap like this.

This is not 1999. They can make fishing fun and engaging and still challenging without this pointless tedium. They're just choosing the lazy way and refusing to put any sort of care or thought into fishing. It's there because they needed a third.

it actually used to be a more complex minigame in 1.0, but they got rid of it

and since ff14 is a "theme park" i dont mind having some relaxing content that I can do without putting much effort into it

But you do have to put effort into it. You have to keep track of game time of day, weather conditions, and bait and even then some big fish are just a slim chance they will actually bite in that tiny window. Your abilities mean almost nothing as well and there is no good way to use them to guarantee RNG won't screw you over. Contrast that to mining and botany, where good skill usage results in good rewards. I enjoy fishing. I just want to see it stand with the other two gathering classes and be just as viable, not the throwaway class.
