Glamour dresser red flag

Get it again, or don't put it in the dresser.

Why create a system where people already have to question themselves if they even should put that in or not? Its just a bad band-aid to all those (like me) who complained about the problems with glamour. If they dont introduce huge amount of more space for the dresser in the near future and constantly update this..well they could have just given us a free new retainer..at least people could take their things out of it again..

This system is just bad and they are forced to stick with it too since otherwise all their players could lose 200 items worth of glamour..(and if they somehow can just easily code it in a way that you can take out stuff..why not do it from the beginning?)

If it's the highest level of gear that you have, don't put it in the dresser. If it's hard to obtain and you want to use it on your retainer or squadron, don't put it in the dresser.

All that's happening right now is you're being given more. What you already have isn't being changed. It's all in addition to what you already have, with the promise of even more (the promise that they'll look into adding the dresser system for squadron and retainers). So, if you're so concerned, then just put your favorite personal glamours in the dresser for now, and you won't have to worry about anything.

how will this effect dressing retainers? I know it won't work for Adventure Squad, so you can never convert glams you want your AS to use, but what about our retainers?

Honestly, I would not expect much else from SE. They really don't seem to have the resources to go through and code the system well. If they spent this much time creating a headache of a system instead of just creating an easier and more user friendly system, then the easier and more user friendly system will probably never come.

While I am not a fan of "destroying" something to make it a glamour, I think I can understand the underlying reason. Once it's just a flag for appearance and color it will use far less data during the check. Inventory increase while managing existing server resources.

It could have worked like the armoire though. There is no reason they couldn't let you pull out the item again but with materia/HQ tag/spirit bond level wiped out . They just didn't want to do that.

But if I put a piece of gear in there that I got from let’s say, savage content/mog station/event, then have to farm/buy with real money that piece again if I want to glamour my squad or directly glamour it to a job without wasting a plate? That’s ridiculous...

Savage is easily farmable later on.
Event items of any kind will be able to be put into your armoire which can also be used for the plates.
And mogstation items can be glamoured the old way.
Where is the problem?

Even if you read on a fan transcription that you can put the items out of the glamour dresser it is never said you can use it again or that it will be put back in your inventory.

And I simply dont know right now if I want to use certain items as glamour for squadrons (seems retainers are not mentioned in the notes so either I misread or read it somewhere else x)) so in the end I can barely do anything in that. At the same time I will not put my most favorite glamours in there because we dont know if we will always keep that system. And they promised us a lot over the years. (More egis, more max amount of apartments, different housing for FC and individuals, different prices for housing, no timer ever for housing...the list goes on)

They simply could have given us a free retainer and this would have saved them time and budget..instead they gave us a system that will destroy your glamour and is limited.

Maybe I'm missing something about the dyes on items converted into plates. It says the item retains the dye that was on it originally, so say I convert a best man's tux that has a rare dye. Obviously that means the plate will retain that dye. But where does it say/show that once used in an ensemble that the plate's look cannot be dyed after application? If you truly cannot dye something after using its plate then I agree that is an actual glaring problem.

While I wouldn't say with certainty there's NO reason it's a curious situation to be sure. If you can use the Armoire items, it seems to use the same system.. but for some reason they created a new "box" for it. The few people I've talked to with coding experience seem to think it has something to do with WHERE the info is stored or how it's organized server side, also expandability concerns may factor in. It's possible the Armoire is reaching it's limits and the Dresser is its own thing with better design but it can be linked to reference the old system. Someday we might see "Armoire items all have been moved to the Glamour Dresser inventory."
but as usual since I'm not actually on the team and haven't talked to a dev it's just speculation. I'm reasonably sure the reason isn't just "We don't want to do it that way. " though. It smells of unmentionable backend complications in my mind.

If you really think they'd destroy 200 items out of your "inventory" without notice but NOT just remove all the dupe housing from people who tripled and doubled up, I'd like to know where you think the line is? Have they ever just REMOVED items we owned without compensation or replacement OR previous warning?

They specifically said dye's could be applied to plates themselves. I'm not sure where the paranoia is coming from.. I think I had that same argument with that user on another thread.

Yes that why I said that we are probably stuck with the system right now because otherwise this would mean that we would lose our items. This would either mean that they need to revamp their second glamour feature again or that we would have like two or three different glamour system at the end.

Also I hope that the armoire will not reach any kind of limit because that would make the situation even worse. We need that storage right now to have a place for the countless of mog station items and event items. You would not want to put mog station or promotional items into the dresser if there is a chance that you need to delete them later..anyway this would kinda make the dresser the new armoire just with the problem that you cant them take out of it and with the problem of having a limit.
