    Glamour Dresser Change Request

So all items are destroyed when put into the glamour system - Including mogstation items.

    Ouch.

If they let us redye them - I can live with that.

    But they wont...at this time.

that's expensive and costly if I want to change things up with the stuff i paid for with real money.

    Comments? Like if you agree...etc.

Just asking for a small compromise/change to live with the change.

I get not turning it into a insta-200 slot inventory bin...but at least make it bearable.

    #EDIT: No longer an issue...can lock/delete whatever. Thanks. EDIT#

We can redye the items once they are added to a plate. It says in the patch notes.
The whole glamour dresser just is where we store glamour, which is nice, they may also up the amount.
As well the old glamour system will still be there I believe, so you don't have to use the glamour dresser.
As well any stuff in the armoir won't be destroyed, the stuff is destroyed when try to remove it from the glamour dresser, if you are worried about the mog shop stuff I wouldn't put them in there till they either add them to the armoir or just apply them the old way. Or store them because you know you would use them the most and there is less likely a chance you will get rid of them.

The system probably will change more, they just need to see how our servers handle this.

Yeah... I'm not going to be using the dresser for things that aren't either cheap vendor gear or dungeon gear I can easily get from the 51-59 or 61-69 dungeons. No way am I throwing in items with expensive dyes or mogstation items in there. And things I had to grind for? Forget it.

It's also not very useful when Glamour Plates can only be applied in large cities, the Gold Saucer and Residential districts. I don't think the system will be semi-functional until 4.3 at the earliest.

As far as the limitation to having us apply them only in major cities, gold saucer and housing. That's really not a big deal.
How often are you not in a main city or housing?
Do you really change glamours in a dungeon? Or in any other zone outside of a city?

    There are obvious problems.
But considering they are trying to add a way to apply glamours so it's not just attached to the armour. This should allow for each job to look different. (Which is literally what we have been asking for forever)
I think they should allow us to remove things but they are spirit bound so we can't try to sell them or whatever.

I know myself I will try it, I will try it with the job sets, and see how that works because that's why I want multi glamour the most

I'd want to swap Glamour Plates whenever I change jobs. Which if you're doing things out in the zones is pretty often (gatherer to war/magic class when DF queue pops, for example). So realistically, I won't be able to make use of the intended effect very often. In addition, I won't be able to use Glamor Prisms with the items in the Glamour Dresser (all the more reason not to put items in the Glamour Dresser)... so yeah, the Glamour Dresser/Plate system as is, is more of a headache then anything else.

The problem with this is that we were specifically told that we would be able to pull the items out and use them. It was a huge concern from the player base that items would get destroyed and we were told they wouldn't be, not permanently. That's what made the Glamour Toilet (commode) even moderately appealing.

It's not even going to be worth using now. God forbid we put Mogstation items in it. Or stuff that cost millions of Gil, only to have it be destroyed. F that noise. What a completely underwhelming system.

I agree that items put into the Glamour Dresser being lost forever is unacceptable; particularly because of A) The inability to use Glamour Dresser items for normal glamours (as far as I understand?) and B) The restriction of only 10 Glamour Plates at this time.

However, when looking at it in the grand scheme of things, doesn't this restriction seem rather odd? People complained for ages about how a number of furnishings would be lost forever if they were removed after being placed down, but this was gradually improved on as time went by. Even this very patch continues the trend of removing such harsh limitations. And yet despite this, despite them knowing how loathed such restrictions are, the Glamour Dresser is implemented with them? It makes me believe then that there is something innate to XIV's very coding which requires those restrictions to be put in place.

So, horrendous restrictions aside, I'm happy that they are finally implementing a system like this, warts and all. They've already said that they plan to expand both the areas in which the Dresser can be used and the number of plates available, so I don't think it's too much to expect them to eventually be able to remove the item-destroying limitations too, as they have done with Housing Features over time.

I definitely won't be making use of the dresser if they're going to destroy the items completely, despite telling us they wouldn't. No way I'd put mogstation stuff in there, let alone other expensive gear. There's no way the code itself would prevent item removal, considering its almost guaranteed not to be a bitmap like the armoire likely is. Even with all the gear in the game, they should have just made it a bitmap. It'd likely take up far less storage space than storing the (almost) full item data like it appears it'll be doing.

Having the ability to store Mogstation items in the Armoire would be nice..

Rumor around the forums is they intend to try to tie the plates into gear sets in the near future, so that presumably this issue may be resolved. Just a few posts I've seen about it, tho. But I wouldn't get too doom'n'gloom over that; this is early stages, they're just trying to keep it simple until the player base at large has had time enough to point out any actual flaws/bugs with it. I would wager once they're satisfied that everything is running stable, they'll start lifting restrictions and increasing limits.

For some reason, I keep wanting to feel/expect that somehow the Dresser will be able to work in conjunction with the Armoire. The way they're encouraging players to use the Armoire and increasing items that should've been in there all along (which are all 100% glamour items), in addition to both only being available in inns, it'd be nice if the Dresser could use items in the Armoire for glamour, without destroying what's in the Armoire.
