And I hope that's true. I haven't joined a linkshell, yet, but I'm intending to go searching for one when the servers come back up. First requirement: as little drama as possible, especially on the part of its leaders. At this point, I at least know which ones to avoid. >.>

Right, but the difference is, those linkshells (most of them anyway) don't act like a bunch of thoughtless, delusional, hood rats who are overly sensitive to the thought of their intelligence potentially being insulted. Don't worry though, you do a great job of that on your own.

People don't just come out of no where and blindly dislike your linkshell, but if that's the story you want to keep telling yourself, that's just fine.

It's a matter of opinion and not a fact by saying you are the best making you sound very cocky just by posting this topic make other not want to join the server if that how the fanbase is for that world. So try and be more mature about it we are a fanbase all the server should be together. We are a community don't try and make yourself look the best it just hurting the overall community. Of course, you're right. But I think people are just having some fun and trying to raise morale, saying we're the "best." Server pride, all that.

It'd be silly to look down upon someone for playing on a different server.

I agree with Eolrid, saying we are the best is a way to raise spirits. We are not saying the people from the other servers are not as great as us. Yarr was saying that we are coming together and interacting which is why we are so great, not cause we are better.
