Yeah, everyone is focused on how many houses will be available, and how only FCs or people who already own a home will have access to them. I think it's been easy to forget about the option of apartments (probably because there are plenty still available on most servers).

Not sure where a good place for greenhouses would be. Probably somewhere in The Black Shroud or La Noscea, though I can't think of how to make it fit with lore off-hand. Though I can think of a couple of farms in lower level zones for both areas.

I'd vote for the botanists guild in Gridania for that. A new venture from the guildmaster there perhaps, and lock it behind lvl 50 or 60 botany perhaps so you'd have a legitimate reason to be part of the action.

I like how they say that they will make it more fair and then proceeds to shit on those of us who doesn't have a house yet.
I am all for the FC's getting a chance to get a house, but how is it fair that the people who have a personal house already, can relocate to one in the new wards but people who don't have one can't even buy one.
So we will have to sit around and watch as every house is bought right in front of us and the chance for a house in for instance shirogane is pretty much non existent. If any houses are left at all we get to fight over the scraps.
I was even willing to pay real money to be able to buy the house that I want if that was an option, but to think that THIS is what they came up with and that they call it "fair" HAH!

I will still try to get a house but when it fails, and it very likely will, I will be one of the first to complain about it here.

So to me patch 4.2 might as well be called "F... You Homeless People!"

Based on what I've seen from this thread so far, I'd have to say the dev's next steps in housing and QoL should be:
- Look at expanding apartment size and desirability
- Potentially look at increasing number of apartments (presuming there's still congestion on some servers)
- Look at adding housing related features to the world at large. In particular, chocobo stables in at least the starting cities, and greenhouses in the botanist's guild (or something similar)

For the expedition airships, I realize FCs with houses invest a lot of time, effort, energy, and money into their ships. So I would propose that individuals may get the opportunity to create ONE personal airship/submarine that they can send out and it has a smaller payload. So the materials aren't locked, but FCs with their greater resources still have the advantage.

Does that about summarize what we've said so far in terms of potential solutions?

Yes, it's still an issue unfortunately. Right after transfers became available there were a lot popping up but that's since stopped.

In a way, it makes sense that Balmung is struggling the most with housing - we are, for all intents and purposes, the RP server, and there's nothing more desirable to an RPer in an MMO than a setting you can tailor to your exact needs and wants for the story. (Though now Mateus has a good knot of RPers on it to my understanding)

Apartments open up slowly yes but still open up. I saw one open two days ago but then it was nabbed ^^ Also just yesterday I found a empty small plot on the lav beds (thought i'd never see that) So..I guess that happens as well on Balmung its just extremely rare.

and also I agree, the housing problem is very a struggle especially when some people who RP with multiple alts think they need a house for each character to "tell their story" Eye roll I have two more alts on Balmung and they do not own a apartment nor would i ever desire to own another home on them either. Just wish SE could let alts be added to our house we already have.

It's coming. They promised us in the last live letter that would be a thing due to the new housing restrictions. I expect that will implement before the next patch, or by the next patch at the latest.

When did they say that? I never saw that in any translation that I read. I know Yoshida talked about wanting to make it happen in the past, but I've never heard if they actually looked into it or if it was just on the board as something to do in the future.

If it's any compensation Wrasha, I am not relocating because I don't want to have to redeco my whole house hehe. Relocation however, doesn't do anything as far as taking another spot count but rather moving from one neighborhood to another you desire leaving your vacated spot open for another. People moving from the less desirable Goblet or to a plot you like better due to scenery does make it tough if you want to settle there but at least you might be able to grab a house. The only up side I can really see is a prettier area outside because nobody spends a lot of time outside anyway. As for the FCs getting a spot, well, right now on voice chat and in other FCs, they already began preparations enabling people to be the first to move by making themselves a FC of their own just in case. Should be real interesting come patch day *popcorn*.

I don't know about your server but on Odin 80-85% of the houses are taken by players, not FC's, so they deserve those houses. Also, Only FC's can fill up the new plots, personal houses can only MOVE meaning they free up the spot they move from, wich in turn can only be bought up by FC's.
