I tanked a Dun Scaith run in an attempt to get over my tanking anxiety.

A party member Ninja fumbled with their keyboard and threw Smokescreen on me when I went out to hit Diabolos.

Much lols were had. ;_;

is this a trend? I was gone before SB launched and re-subbed last December, enjoying leveling up RDM myself, but I've been in at least 3 dungeons where the RDM would play tank running ahead and pulling mobs. I could imagine such pro-activeness works at expert levels but it just comes off as arrogance esp when the tank is a sprout who's probably just learning and being careful. and in lowbie dungeons where you can't even use vercure, it doesn't make sense when you're just adding stress to the healer.

I hope not. I'm in the middle of learning how to tank and got to Stone Vigil. I'm making the pulls I see everyone make, except apparently I wasn't doing it fast enough cause the RDM decided to take it upon himself to be the puller for me. I'm sorry I'm not an endgame wall-to-wall tank yet dude, give me a break. It didn't help that I didn't see him do it either, the mobs he brought back with him went and almost gibbed the healer before I noticed there were extra mobs then what was on my hate list.

Lol funnily enough it always seems to be Red Mages who rush ahead and try and pull ahead of the tank. No idea why!

i feel like despite SE making the game easier, a lot of players are still getting worse. Maybe it's just me and my bad luck, but what is this epidemic of dps not using AOE? The tank will pull everything in sight, yet Mr. and Ms. MNK want to single target everything down for the next 17 hours of the dungeon run, or the MCH pops their bishop turret and thinks they don't have to use spreadshot, or the RDM didn't notice they have access to a ton of AOE, and so on.

I don't feel like I'm being elitist. Then again, I'm obviously biased. I just feel like once you get to 70, the basics shouldn't even be an issue. Then again, maybe I'm crazy for thinking people should use AOE when faced with large packs of mobs. I don't even know anymore.

It's because we red mages are far superior than rest of you so we don't need to wait for anyone or anything.

But really i not know why its so hard for those red mages to wait, I admit that i sometimes run before the the tank moves but i always stop before the first mobs and wait.

So I made a character on aether to play with friends that transferred and this is how I felt dealing with the duty finder on the other side of the North American Data Center:

"I don't want to live on this planet anymore."

Unsurprisingly it's just as bad. I don't know if it was that black mage who thought pulling all the optional enemies at the end of sastasha was a good idea (and then I watch him die because I'm not healing him and letting that come to us), or maybe it was the dragoon (level 32, even below me at the time) in brayflox who complained too many enemies were pulled in the swamp.

I'm glad I don't drink because if I took a shot for every problematic person I've come across in two days...

Edit: I knew I forgot something. How could I have forgotten about the samurai in Halatali who went out of their way to facepull all of the optional enemies and then drag them to me, the healer (nearly wiping the party).

I didn't want my first post on these forums to be in this thread, but oh well. I ended up in the sunken temple normal. The tank never used cool downs but still decided to do big pulls. The tank did die on the first boss due to the doom status.Our second attempt one of the dps died but we didn't wipe. On our way to the last boss the tank pulled alot of enemies still no cool downs this is where I made my mistake, I accidently used cure instead of cure 2 tank died and we wiped. The dps that died at the first boss started saying stuff like " LOL WIPE, then spammed macros about the wipes the rest of the dungeon. After we finished the last boss they did one more macro mocking the wipe then they left. I'll admit the wipe was my fault at leat I think so anyway, if I had used cure 2 I think everything would have turned out alright.

Wow, almost 14,000 posts...that kinda boggles my mind a bit.

On topic, I had a skalla run today. Time to completion: 53 minutes, no wipes. I get not everyone is a master of their class, and I have no problem with 30 minute dungeons but this was just excessive.

Nah. When DPS pull like that, I let them die. I'll forgive it once or twice, but if they are being deliberate, they get to die.

I wrote this in this thread some months back, I MTed all of Dun Scaith on my tank alt for the first time, and there was this NIN that kept pulling.

I saved them all the other times, but on Diabolos I finally let them have it, and told my team I let them die. Most of them were like "I'd have done it too." XD

I used to let them die, but now I just get it back from them. Besides, occasionally the undergeared ones die within in seconds of pulling the mobs. I mean, ya know, it'd be OK if only one mob is pulled. But some of them gotta realize, mobs are usually linked to other mobs, so you pull one, you got 10 mobs beating on you.

It probably is a trend now. I see RDMs doing it far more than any other class. Let em die and hopefully they learn.
