So?
It'll give people in the know something to point at and laugh. Devs know better than to let mob rule define class balance.
Relax! If black mages get into a great place and the trolls and the ninnies start to whine, I'll share my popcorn with you.
They let the mob already define class balance enough, the ranged meta was born out of that and quite frankly shake it off rework was another example.
Also the current changes to BLM, while in line with their philosophy of rising the skillfloor, are in line with the majority that says that BLM is screwed completely by movements when it's not the truth as many in the forum have already said, they have it rough true, but BLM can work around this and the true problem lies that the dmg potential is not enough to warrant it's no raid buffs/utility
Player
Yes true, but since the majority thinks that is movements the real bottleneck that is reflected in what SE decides to fix
It's also possible that they did that just to make people stop with the whole movement problem.
Nearly everyone said that EM down to 10sec won't change much, however this can potentially make every non BLM proefficient player stop saying that they can't DPS because of mvm. You know like some kind of placebo effect.
The only useful change are the TD and FS duration buff.
However I was really hopping for Enochan reseting AF/UI(and a fusion of Ley Line and Between the lines)
Let's not loose hope, maybe we'll get more things adressed next patch like Scaith and Blizzard ^^
It might idd help ppl realize that the bottleneck is not the movements but the end dmg when optimizing uptime on bosses compared to other jobs, frankly speaking F4 buff kinda works on that too depending on the magnitude of the buff, in a way a non optimizing BLM should see an increase in dmg in similar way when they reduced the dmg bonus from DRG positionals.
Or maybe they won't, tbh in my opinion when you see that the fight is working against you, you should ask yourself if you could've done something better to circumvent that before saying that the job is "literally unplayable" because of it.
I mean even 4.1 gave us a new anti-movement tool in the form of a functioning surecast, how much more to we really need?
No, this will just teach non proficient BLM bad habits such as depending on a skill that will decrease their damage in most of the cases. And if they rely too much on it they'll keep suffering the stack juggling issues they already do.
Also, Firestarter change is virtually useless. It will also teach non proficient the bad habit that "its ok to drop stacks because firestarter will still be there to help you". There were so many inventive ways to buff BLM and help players that struggle with it at the same time. It's a shame to see that after SMN changes SE just took the lazy route on both of the issues in BLM's case.
People have to stop complaining of the movement part of BLM. It's like complaining you've to jump on enemies to kill them in a Mario game and how that limits you.
