An NPC you truly hate with passion

That was the part of the game when i actually started to rush the story as fast as it was possible. It was and endless loop of going to that cunt, doing something and coming back, nothing makes you hate quests in mmorpgs more than something like this.

While there isn't any NPC I would "hate" with a passion, I can say I like any of the one from the main story line. Maybe it's just the style of writing but I find pretty much all of them are pretentious.

Alisaie. My god, I absolutely can't stand her. She sounds and acts like a 40 year old woman, depth of voice and all, when clearly she's the elezen equivalent of 15. And she is soo... I don't know, condescending? At least that's the vibes I'm getting. Please leave my party.

The audience is SUPPOSED to hate Fordola. The twist to her character is that she herself doesn't feel that she can be redeemed, part of her doesn't want to be clearly. Yet she's acting in a fashion that is giving her conflicting feedback, as some feel she is redeeming herself but others do not.
Her entire adult life she has sought out others to verify her identity and self worth, and at numerous points she failed at this (be it by betraying her mother, her country, or her friends). And it's that feedback from others affirming or condemning her actions that lead her to go further and further. So now that she is given conflicting support and disapproval at the same time, she really doesn't know how to handle it.

It's really well written internal conflict on the character. And THANK THE TWELVE, This is the first antagonist in a very, very, VERY long time who hasn't just immediately died upon being defeated. Please write more of these.

Honestly with Fordola it kinda gets down to how they are going to do her redemption. Will she stay in prison? Or will she suddenly be free and live her life and maybe join the scions? If its the latter it seems to be too much for me. Yes she had a sad past (like a lot of people have, especially in Ala Mhigo) but she still tormented the people who are already living a bad life. I mean those had nothing to do with the death of her father. They are not the same people. She said that she wanted to prove that their people can do well and thus get them a better standing but at the same time she somehow had no problems with letting someone being beating nearly to death. Also instead of protecting the poor people from the monster that roam the land they did nothing. The only one that she helps is her own group and not the people in Ala Mhigo. And then at the end for her goal she even kills her own comrades. That is one heck of a war crime. Just for that she should normally land in prison for a long time. So if she gets redemption even after letting her own comrades die and tormenting the folk then please dont give her a free pass at the end.

But at least she seems to feel a bit horrible about her actions and she saw that other people also had it bad..so them trying to at least redeem her a bit is fine. Yotsuyu never felt sorry, even when death was unavoidable she tried to take everyone with her..yet even after all she did it seems that she will also get her redemption arc..which I just find bad and thats why I really dislike her character, especially since only the female main villians seems to get some redemptions while the male one kills himself. Would they have gone that way too if the females were males and Zenos a female? It just feels like those two characters get their redemption because they are females. (And its my feeling, not saying that this is true) Also its interesting that both characters seems to hold a bit grudge against a whole race/country even though most of them never did anything to them because it was only a handful of people. So does someone gets a redemption after tormenting a whole race/country if they have a sob story behind that? So why does nobody feels bad about Zenos, even though most must have probably come from his upbringing? Would the alliance or Hien let Zenos redeem himself? Probably not.

Eorzea already punished someone that lost his memory yet barely punished that one Garlean soldier. Hien was slashing Yotsuyu down even after knowing her story..Gotsetsu surely needs some good argument for Hien to stop putting her at least in prison.

And this is why I like Fordola's character (no I don't condone her actions). Hers is the most believable. Hers is the most tragic. From a very early age she had to figure out the best way to survive in the occupation -- and though her choices weren't the best, in her mind she was fighting for her place in the world.

Which is kind of the same with Yotsuyu...except they went the cheap route with her and convinently wiped her memory...unless she is faking it. I want her to be faking it, because it shows who two oppressed women deal with the lot they've given in life: Fordola, fighting for her freedom by oppressing her own people, Yotsuyu, revenge on all the world until the bitter end.

Yup, Fordola's frequent internal struggle to determine what's "right" already makes her a bit deeper of a character than most. Sure, she's definitely run face first into a moral event horizon, and pretty much gave up on life at one point, but she lived through it. Now it's a mix of survivors' guilt, "what happens now?", and still struggling with what's right. She'll never be anything but "the butcher" or a traitor to others, even if she put on a cape and started flying around Gyr Abania saving people. And if she lives through it all, it's going to be one very long redemption road. I see already that our little mind dive into each other already left a mark though. Pain made her give up, but pain made us stronger, and she can't understand that yet.
