Every level 70 roulette recently i keep encountering healers putting regen on tanks inbetween pulls.
Tanks dont cancel it of course which doesnt help and end result is packs of trash following healer while tank is running ahead to pull more.
Seen one healer with omega savage raid gear do this and then fake dc after dying.
Then another healer rage quit before last boss also.

I would just like to point out that sometimes pulling with Provoke can be a good thing, most of the time you shouldn't but there are special cases when it is beneficial.
Provoke has a slightly longer range than Shield Lob/Tomahawk/Unleashed and can be very useful when you want to pull a group of mobs to a very specific spot but they are just out of range for your regular ranged agro grab abilities.
For example, I like to use Provoke to grab the last group of mobs in Temple of the Fist. Basically I tank everything on the stairs, not in the room, so that I can be lower down on the stairs with the mobs between me and the rest of the group being farther up the stairs. This makes it so I can trigger and dodge all the AoE causing fireballs while the rest of the group doesn't have to bother with them at all.
The regular ranged agro ability has too short of a range and I would have to run far into the room to tag them with it, while Provoke I can grab them from the bottom of the stairs, requiring minimal readjusting.
However, yes most tanks that are doing things like pulling bosses with Provoke or throwing it out in the middle of a fight (unless you are doing the Provoke -> Shirk combo with your co-tank) likely do not understand how the ability works and think it works the same as in other MMOs.
I've seen this a lot since SB's release. I have even asked some DF healers why they keep doing that and pretty much I have been told that "a good tank should be able to just deal with it".
I don't really mind that much if I get loaded up with a Regen and Med 2 before a boss pull since my agro opener generates enough agro that it won't matter but it can get a bit hairy in large dungeon pulls. If the healer does grab agro in a large pull because of Regen and they sprint to keep up with the tank, avoid taking damage by outpacing the mobs and do a clean pass off at the end of the pull, it's fine. If they stop in the middle of a pull because they pulled agro and let the mobs chew their face off, all while ranting and raving, well they really should reevaluate what they are doing.

I've done two dungeons so far today and both acted as a reminder why I normally refuse to use the DF for any dungeon if I'm not the tank or dont know the tank personally. Why I'm queuing for a dungeon again right now I dont even know myself...
But to start at the beginning: My level 68 samurai needs exp and my orchesterion the songs from Shisui and Bardams so I figured I'll just queue up for those two dungeons for a change (a change being something but Sastasha and Toto-Rak, two dungeons the leveling roulette insists on).
Shisui pops first and the warrior is raising red-flags: Padjal-axe, not one piece of left side equip is higher than 240, a Makai-ring (235) goes great with the primal (230) one! All in all he has about as much HP than I do. With defiance on. Now you'd think "At least they had defiance on!" (a thought I'll have during my next run, wait for it) but it doesnt help much - both me and the MCN (whos rocking a NQ-ilvl255 weapon... seriously does no one know about poetics gear?!) are ripping aggro left and right.
Tank pulls the first two groups and dies - followed by something in party-chat that I didnt quite understand: "i jebaited you by using my def cds all at once" - apparently directed at the healer, but I dont even get what they were trying to say. I get ready to defend that healer though, just in case the tank is trying to blame them. Nothing more happens though, so I resort to suggesting better gear for the tank at the end...
Oh and ofc this warrior "pulled" with provoke. They didnt actually use it to engage the boss but rather hit it 10 seconds into the fight or so when they already had it...
Since I dont wanna see another Shisui, I only queue for Bardams. The tank this time is a DRK... with full shire gear plus this one extra odd ring. Red flag: Someone who bought a jump potion!
And indeed: The DRK cant hold aggro, isnt using CDs, turns off his tankstance after the first death, turns darkside on and off... obviously he lost aggro to me, the RDM and the healer the whole time. Hes also level 67. Even though be bought the jump potion he had 7 more levels to figure out the very basics of tanking. That he didnt annoyed me quite a bit, yet I still gave short, but polite explantions/orders in chat - basic stuff like "turn grit on" and "use your aoe-tank-move". He left without ever having said a word after our second wipe to trash-mobs - a wipe that happend half way to the first boss after about 2 minutes...
And I'd really like to feel sorry for that poor person who had such a horrible experience as tank that they had to leave a dungeon like this... but I cant help but be mad at them for buying a jump potion and then not bothering to figure out their class properly before going into a dungeon. Or at least taking/asking for advice once they're in a dungeon.
Bottomline... thanks PotD, thanks jump potions... for the blessing that those tanks (or any other class aswell) are...

I was queued for leveling roulette for a good long while and it finally popped!
Aurum Vale!!! Now, I don't mind it so I was hopeful I'd gotten a team that would just deal with it. I say hello.
The gate goes down and the healer pops a buff and then poof, suddenly the tank is gone. Then the DPS. Finally the healer.
So I am there by myself. A DPS queues in, and does talk to me but is soon gone too, since the did want to wait.
Finally a tank queues. They only say hello, and the newbie bonus text pops. Then a NIN. At this point I ask my NN for a healer but no luck.
Then finally a healer!!!! It is one of the smoothest runs of AV I've ever had. The Tank had to be an alt cause they new all the tricks of the dungeon. It was not their first time.
I then queued for 50/60 and got a bunch of Sprouts for it, and at the pulls with the ice wind the tank was standing in them. So I told them that they shouldn't cause it does DMG. The healer said they could handle it, but I just politely reminded that they could do more DPS if they didn't have to heal more. (And I only said this cause the healer was like DPS crazed and even pulled extra mobs.)
The second boss was a bit of a mess, but no one died and we beat it pretty quick. But the tank let me explain it to them more after, and it was really nice to see someone so receptive to advice.
It makes me happy to see old dungeons done correctly, and the mechanics not lost in a sea of dps burns.
I mean burning is great and all, but it sometimes is fast if you do it right!!
Queued up for leveling roulette with my WHM and got an in-progress Toto-Rak. There's a DRK and two MNKs in the party, one a sprout and the other an experienced player. I am immediately greeted with this:
They claimed they couldn't click it off because they were on PS4, which I told them I was on PS4 too and that they needed to use the touchpad. Why I was even helpful at that point, I don't know. I then say "This isn't going to fly when you're at a higher level", and they respond with, "I'm not going to tank at level 70" and then follow up with "I'm a healer main". Ummmmmm, ok. They did have AST at 70, so I don't know why they wouldn't want the benefit of Protect. Obviously it's not as important in lower level duties, but I've never once met a player who complained about having it.
We continue through the duty, with the DRK poorly maintaining aggro and running ahead, leaving at least one DPS trapped behind the webs every time. When we get to the turn where there is an optional room, the tank goes to the room but the two DPS run the other way and I follow them. The three of us continue fighting our way to the boss room and leave the tank to die. I've never let anyone die on purpose before, but that was so satisfying. The tank respawns at the start and is clearly not in a hurry to meet back up with us, so the experienced MNK says "Wanna go?" and I said yes. We beat the boss with the tank just watching and I wanted to commend both the DPS after that.![]()

A bit more cheerful, I had a Fantastic Soph EX bird farm last night! Thank you, Goob. and I made another today! I just want to remind you that great people lurk in the PF too!
And to my tank, I hope you get your bead!!!![]()

I don't normally post, but okay this was a t i m e:
- Load into Brayflox on my BRD alt, because I'm masochistic and I have alts. (To my alt's credit, he is a cute catboy)
- Newbie tank, all fine'n well.
- Newbie MNK (coulda been an alt, idk)
- Mentor Healer (SCH)
So the first half of the dungeon is pretty fine and dandy, tank's doing smaller pulls which I really don't mind at all.
But he got lost a little out before the Eft boss, and that happens, it's w/e.
Mentor healer doesn't say anything (I didn't realize the tank was actually just a bit confused, thought he wanted the back chests with the Ziz bros). But instead of directing, chooses to pull half this entire expanse of mobs and drag them to the tank.
Healer dies instantly, tank is still a bit green so doesn't manage to grab all of them (some of them), and dies almost instantly because the incoming damage was too high for their gear to handle (plus, dead SCH and us other two don't have raises or heals available).
At first, healer plays it off as "I meant to point you in the right direction," cool, w/e, mistakes happen.
Happens again, tank is going the correct way with a little bit of prodding from me stepping in front of him and leading to the next pack (not pulling aggro). Healer is coming up, pulls three side groups of mobs (like, four efts and some pugils) and tries to dump them on the tank after running around in circles for a bit.
We wipe again, I manage to take a couple of the mobs with me. Healer is getting pissy at this point.
So we make the same approach a third time, but the healer is super far back and somehow manages to pull all the efts we skipped and all the pugils we skipped (ignored the bridge and just kinda ran through all the water).
At this wipe, he tries to pin it on the tank claiming the tank should've gone all the way back (with his own pull) and grabbed them all. Sometimes, sure, but this wasn't on the tank from my perspective -- healer should know not to pull all that, should know where to go to not pull all that (a few 70's but nothing to write home about), and this was the third time he did the same thing after being asked not to do so.
So he's tearing into this new tank, and I'm done being quiet and defend him from all that. Like, yeah, he *could* take the pull, but he won't survive it (SCH didn't seem to want to use either faerie anymore, and it's too much incoming damage for the lowishly geared tank to handle from a mechanical standpoint.
So the mentor pitches a fit and refuses to participate until we kick him, calling everyone morons and so on and so forth and...
God, I learned I really hate people like that.
