Flagged into Sohm Al and wiped on the first pull. Things were dying reasonably fast, tank was rotating cooldowns, but the healer just stood there. No prob, reset and try again. Aaaand healer pulled all the mobs that were on them to the entrance. Thanks to the tank's skill, we finish them off. We wait for the healer to cast protect and run off again. Get to the final boss, BLM LBs the wings, and we're on the home stretch until the healer stands in a bunch of AoEs. We wipe again. Finally, we clear and then leave after I comm the tank.

Yeah. You always hear about other servers but I don't really know what the general consensus is about our server. I'm assuming people forget we exist. T_T We have a really friendly community though!

Uh, guys what's with the sudden spam of server shaming? There's good players and shite players on every server, no ones cares where lol. I agree with someone that posted earlier, it says more about you than about them if you think where they're "from" matters.

I can't speak for everyone, but for my case I wanted to show how ridiculous it is to point out a bad player's server. Like you said, good and bad come from everywhere, not just Balmung.

I know Balmung is infamous for many types of particular players, but are we supposed to be claiming the bad ones now too?

I have a lot of characters from a lot of different servers, and yes, there are good and bad players everywhere. But in my five years playing I will say I've yet to play with a player from Balmung that I thought "OMFG THEY ARE SO GOOD AT PLAYING WOW!"

And even before the contacts list was added, I would search Lodestone to look up where people were from.

Enla has it totally right in that it is confirmation bias, but I mean, all the Ice mages, and generally most players that I've played with that did really WACKY and obviously wrong things... It's usually Balmung (OR Jenova... Jenova, I've not played on that server yet, and I have some friends there that are super nice, but sometimes, I swear, what are ya'll doing over there?!"

That is not to say I am gonna see some one from Balmung, or Jenova and be like ew I don't wanna play with them cause they are from THAT server. But when It turns out someone is from Balmumg, I'm just not surprised. Met a lot of nice people from Balmung that I wouldn't mind running stuff with again. I leveled two characters on Balmung to 50, I was trying to see why people wanted to be there so badly, and honestly I just never felt it was that special, so I transferred those characters to my main server, I do have a alt still there though, and lurk from time to time, so I don't mind the server.

I don't think this has to be serious as it's being made to be. I wasn't judging them by where they were from at all (Not that being from a certain server should be something that heavy, its not race or real world location.) I was 100% judging them on how they were playing :P And if I play badly, wait for the day that someone lets off some steam by writing a hilariously long rant about it to feel better, and if they have a Siren server bias and are like "Ug Siren again." I won't hold it against them either cause that is their unique experience and they are allowed to vent without it being taken so SERIOUSLY.

XD Lets chill and get back to ranting. I'm sorry if I upset anyone with the Balmung comment, but like really, I was talking about that one player and the other baddies from there, if its not you you have nothing to feel bad about. (IF IT WAS ABOUT YOU GET IT TOGETHER YOU'RE GIVING ME ANEURYSMS AND I JUST WANNA PLAY FF WITH YOU AND NOT HAVE ANEURYSMS.)

NO ONE is being server shamed or kink shamed or whatever shamed.

Can't put all the blame on Balmung when Goblin exists

(Seriously Goblinese people, do something with your player base. Maybe whenever all 30 of you are online you guys can sit down and talk over game basics.)

I can't say I've run into many from Goblin that make me fume :O I had a REALLY GOOD BRD from Goblin the other day and I ran into her twice while leveling my Alts DRG to 70. :3 She was sweet. Missed lbing the pods in Abania both times, and we all just laughed about it. The runs were really fast, and everyone supported one another. That is the kind of party I like having.

Honestly, I think it was just the straw that broke the camel's back. Your post wasn't the first I've seen here that mentioned a player from Balmung playing poorly. I think people are getting tired of it is all.

If you're going to give us crap, give it to us where it's due. Such as the eleventy billionth topic asking for the server to be unlocked, and male bunny suits. xD

Expert Roulette with a couple of FC members. We pull up in Skalla and get a tank who's new to the duty. Probably also new to tanking in general. This Paladin was doing facepulling or using Provoke to start a pull. Never once did he use Shield Lob to begin and because of that his aggro maintenance was sorely lacking. Not even going to go into detail of how he basically stood in everything. Once the run was over I informed him that he should try to use Shield Lob instead of Provoke to start his pulls and to my horror his reply was: "Sorry, it's a force of habit."

Notice to all tanks: Please do not think Provoke is your start up pull tool. Please just don't.

On a more positive note, had a pretty good run in Raban. No wipes, so I'm glad about that.

I've noticed this is like the new norm... I think that SE needs to explain somewhere in an obnoxious way how provoke works. I see tanks just WASTE it to pull or when they already have aggro. .__. Then when someone pulls off them they don't have anything...
