Oh lord, I hope so. I wouldn't object a large apartment, honestly. I just vacated my old apartment I've had since they launched to move to a new server. I still had to rely on my FC to do much of what you could do with housing because everything was starkly limited in my apartment. For one, I basically had the public stable to myself since no one was buying apartments in the same ward.

I just feel making the alternatives worth while would've been the better first step, as then 100,000 plus players would have a good chunk of them content with the "alternative." Thus, shrinking the plot market, hurting scalpers, helping legit players, etc.

Oh well.

I'd give up the personal house(s) I have if they add in apartments that have the same interior size as a small house. Or the ability to upgrade your apartment to twice or thrice the size the room is currently.

Because they said so and because taking something away from someone is different than simply changing the rules for new purchases. You can continue with your vendetta against multiple home owners but it certainly appears from the directors comments that the new rules will apply to new purchases only.

Strangely when a German website asked SE directly about whats happening with older housing they said that they wont answer that right now. So I am not sure if they truly will just let them go like that.

All I am saying is that they already changed their rules once and that was for everyone. Having it go different this time is not fair imo and if they go that way I will just shake my head at that. But at least the new rules will change it for future purchases so people will at least stop with that. ^^

It would help if FFXIV didn't major in minors. I can go into Savage at day one of the expansion now, using crafted armor that someone probably will be ready to make on day one too, and spend maybe a couple of weeks or less to get a couple of the best armor pieces in the game. If you want to get a single piece of material to make a glamour bikini, or a particular vegetable to boost your chocos level or make a piece of optional furniture, I need to spend weeks trying to catch something, or own a house and spend a month gardening. People spend more time trying to get a single legendary fish than beating Savage endgame.

it's just crazy.

I'm more then happy to be crazy for enjoying the multiple aspects and multitude and content this game offers besides just Savage mode. Besides, glamour is the true end game. Hasn't anyone told you?

Square's messaging is hardly ever on point, unfortunately. Do you know if that website was talking to someone from the Japanese dev team, or someone from a European team?

They're not saying you can't enjoy it, mind you. They're saying that it's pretty silly that some varieties of casual-oriented content, in a casual-oriented game, are somehow more obtuse and restricted than the actual hardcore content.

Sadly they only wrote that they reached out to SE so I dont know if this was for the European team or not. But still I dont understand why they just not put this point on their presentation. I mean if he truly just stated that why not just write it down? This would make it clear for everyone (not only the JP players and translators). But we will see. At least I am happy that flippers will be stopped or at least have it way harder.

And I love that he pointed out that he dislikes house selling. This should also bring an end to the discussion about it being right or wrong.

And if someone is not able to play the game for a certain amount of days they will also lose all of that. Thats also not fair but still part of the game. Also they introduced the timer after housing existed for quite some time, so people bought houses with the belief that they wont ever lose it, even if they dont play for a longer time. Yet the change came and it was used on older houses too. So why should the new rule be only for new ones?

On the contrary. If a person doesnt access the house for 45 days(and auto-demolitions is active which half the time it isnt), it's returned to the server. 45 days is a long time. I've had friends serving in Iraq and Afghanistan who were able to log into games and play. So there isnt much excuse for being gone 6+ weeks. it's called maintaining what you own.

FCs don\\\\'t have first week, or even first day, to themselves anyway. They\\\\'re competing for prime real estate with anyone that currently owns a house and real estate in general with people creating dummy FCs

Private owners that relocate won\\'t take up slots, they will simply move and free up their old slots. Granted, the new slots will have a timer but only FC\\' can actually fill up the added plots exept for a few cottages i assume

This would go a long way towards freeing up housing as well.
