Adressing the roots of the housing problem

Implementing the one house per world is a huge improvement. Who already owns more personal houses in one server, and doesn't plan to use them, I guess it is in his/her best interests sell it before patch being implemented, because after the patch, personal house resell is almost impossible.

I'd expect a house price decrease in the few days before the house patching, because who got it for resell wants get rid of it asap.

Nope, the opposite on both points. Prior to Jan 30th, they can (will and should) charge more than usual because they're now not selling you just any plot, they're selling you access to the whole shebang on Feb 6th. They're selling you the best chance you ever have of getting your ideal plot.

At the same time, they should be in the process of creating and ranking up as many dummy FCs as possible. On Jan 29th, any personal houses in their possession should be relinquished and picked up by those dummy FCs. On Feb 6th, those dummy FCs will then relocate to more coveted large or medium plots in Shirogane/Mists/Lavender Beds, which the reseller can then sell as per usual whenever they find someone desperate enough once all plots in the new Wards are gone.

This is the exact thing Square said they wanted to avoid, their reasoning for not telling us housing details too early, and yet here we are.

You underestimate my generosity to the people I care about... there is a reason I lose gil so quickly ( not mention the random strangers I have given 1mil too when they ask for teleport money or petty cash to buy new NPC gear. )... You are just as selfish as any player in game. Don't fool yourself into thinking you are just super generous and above others who also play the game with in the confines of the rules.

People who were able to buy multiple houses have no social requirement to give away the properties they worked for and purchased. The fact that you think so just shows how selfish you really are.

1 FC house per account. Which means if people want to flip FC houses (plural) they're going to have to pay for new copies of the game and subscriptions for as long as they want to hold 1 house. This is going to deter at least SOME FC house flippers. Also, there is that "4 people needed to purchase" req which we're unclear on. If this means 4 people from the FC have to be on at the same time, I can see this curbing purchasing even more, let alone if this means 4 people have to be PRESENT at the house to buy it. Eventually the house flippers that have several houses will either sell them or let them lapse if they're personal houses and we will have a balance of a sort. This is an improvement on the old system. Something needed to be done and I'm glad the first step has been taken.

They are also still withholding some details, "Further details will be announced on a special site which will be released later." . These could be anything from "you will not be eligable for a FC house purchase if your FC was created after (date)" to "FC leaders purchasing a house need to be past 3.5 MSQ and cannot have done so through level boost pots" . I'll agree these are fanciful requirements, but we have yet to see all their cards.

I would hope part of the new rules include a foundation date for any free companies and not allow ANY of those that were founded in the last month to be able to participate. That would at least solve the dummy FC's that are being created expressly for housing purchases.

I'll agree these are fanciful requirements, but we have yet to see all their cards.

Eligibility via dates is the only thing that would prevent what I wrote to be the reality of the situation. And as you say, it's unrealistic. Particularly when you look at everything else that we know to be true so far.


Edit: I do want to be clear that I really, seriously do not agree with how most of this is shaking out (in fact, I think I still only agree with the 1 hour delay). I'm just waffling between pointing out the holes in this mess and trying to drum up some sort of proper backlash. Most people still don't seem very annoyed, which I assume is because they don't have enough details.

This is what matters for me. If you check the Community Board on the Lodestone you see MANY FCs being created since the Liveletter of having 4 people only and not recruiting. :x

Hope they also publish the Special Site for Housing atleast in the next week for all the Information.

It's no more selfish than you. If you farm mats all day and craft a lot of HQ materials and equipment, is it selfish of you to sell them on the auction house instead of giving them away to any random player you meet?

Is it anymore selfish than you saving up millions of Gil to buy something like a pet instead of giving all your Gil to the first person you see?

It's not. There was no rule saying players couldn't own 2 houses per character and there is no rule saying you have to give up everything you gain to random players.

You both follow the rules of the game. The only difference is the few people who own multiple houses were better at the game than you and they have something you want.

The difference is that houses are LIMITED, materials, pets, equipment and whatever else you could come up with is not. Stop trying to defend a selfish act. Doesn't matter if you followed the rules or not.

However, I am against the decision to give Free Companies priority in all future housing releases. This makes it even more difficult for people to get private homes. We can share a private house with 3 other people, the owner being the 4th house user. Yet a 4 man fc will get priority over any other small group of people. It isn't fair. In addition to this, while homeless players have to bury their hopes of getting their own house, all current house owners get to move to a new plot of their choosing with very little competition. Private house ownership should be treated the same as fc houses until apartments get crossbreed gardening, outdoor decoration and the same item restrictions as houses.

I think a better solution is only consider a group a FC when they have more than 10-20 members who are active.

You do know that private owners make up almost 80% of the plots right? FC's have every right to get the first weeks to themselves.

If the implemented changes don't resolve the issue, by 4.3, you can bet they'll make a system forcing players to get down to one property.

Because they've shown zero interested in adding a ton of amenities to apartments or just adding instanced housing.
